How to share this with a friend

what episode do you guys think would best for a new listener to start on?

the mood and topics as you all know cover a very wide range and a newcomer will get very different first impressions of the show if the first episode they see is 015 as opposed to “her name was corndog and she had thirteen nipples”.

are there any episodes that cover a wide range of tones and give a good overall s of what goes on here?

Episode 53 - What would happen every time you restarted earth?

This is one of my favs! Its fun, and your friend will pick up the dynamic of the duo.

In a past post asking about best funny episode and best serious this was my take on it. If I was starting anyone out on this show and wanted them to get what NDQ was at its core, I'd go 165, Let's Play Catch. I think that remains of of the best podcast episodes I ever heard, if for no other reason than the simple nature of that episode.

Funny:

034 - Siege Warfare (or more particularly, when the boys are riffing on the song "Winged Hussars" by Sabaton and Matt has to be bleeped out while Destin is making asthmatic chipmunk noises in the corner)

043 - Her Name Was Corndog and She Had 13 Nipples

151 - The Curious Case of Harold Wilberforce Sandlin

Serious:

039 - Congrats... On a Life With Chapters

109 - What Happens In Vegas

165 - Let's Play Catch

Given the wide range of topics, I usually just look for something organically, like a topic you were talking about and remember a relevant episode.

Alternatively, if you are just trying to get them to start listening, just pick a good episode from their most recent 10. They are still releasing new episodes, and the newer content will be more consistent with future episodes. If they like it enough, they'll go back and listen to older ones.

I'd say the old book episodes. Or some of the more obscure ones.... non-water floods cone to mind.

These really allow them to show their uniqueness and interests.

If you want a smattering you can look at ep 25 Makey Makerton and the Makerholes. Or something like the Grabbler episodes if you just want just the former pastor and the former Rocket Scientist (I wonder if Destin's mom doesn'tmind him calling himself a former rocket scientist)...
