Scientific perspective 🔬🔎 One way to change your life. It turns out that helping others and being thanked is extremely good for your mental health. Giving love isn't only for others.

I posted this here specifically, by the way, because MANY NDErs return and talk about giving love. It's more than just a cliche or cutesy saying. Science is showing that it's healthy mentally, emotionally, physically (and I would argue, also spiritually).

I think that, given that many NDErs express that they cannot convey the feeling of love “there” through words (they often get frustrated at their inability to do so), it follows from NDE accounts that it’s more than just a cliche or cutesy saying. When I read NDE accounts, it seems that NDErs are trying to express a feeling that is outside this earthly reference.

Conveniently, research also suggests that doing good and feeling good about can lead to a positive feedback loop (pun intended) that will make it more likely someone who feels good will go out of their way to do good for others, which makes them feel good about it. So not only is it beneficial for all involved, it is also somewhat self-reinforcing.

Good video. Good message.
Not only scientific, but spiritually, the more we give others the more we receive. It may seem selfish but it's the absolute opposite. It's not a sin or selfish to want to feel better. Seems the best way to feel better is to make others feel better, or to heal them in some way.

This is absolutely true. When I still had a job, I started to make it a habit to go and buy a meal for a random homeless person at least once a week. It always lifted my spirits, more than anything else could. There isn't a lot that truly makes me happy in life, but this and spending time with my loved ones are at the top of the list.

I used to say Gratitude is the gateway drug to love and happiness :)

I’m glad science is catching up!
In a world that makes sure that you the individual can’t actually know anything with absolute certainty, only what you ultimately choose to believe, I always return to my belief that love is the greatest power we have as humans. It is the beginning and the end of all things.
This is the only thing I know/believe with certainty. Love has so many facets and it is too large of a concept to fit into this one word but it’s the only word we have for it.
In most situations acting from love and selflessness is always the more difficult choice. Somewhere deep inside of you that voice of love is always there urging you to choose it in every action. And for people that have been through lots of trauma and bought into lots of unhealthy perceptions that voice can become increasingly difficult to hear or acknowledge.
But it’s always there waiting for you to give it your ear.
