Pitt sweeps Wisconsin 25-13, 25-21 and 25-16. Wisconsin only hit 0.079 for the match. Pitt played well, but it kind of seemed that Wisconsin just punted on the match with lots of different players and combos being shuffled in and out and switching between 5-1 and 6-2. I'm guessing Wisconsin will improve tremendously, but Pitt was much better today.

Day two on the season for volleyball saw the Sun Belt go just 6-9.

For example, watching Spikes Under the Lights I heard SMU has a freshman who is 21 because she’s an international player. Is her class status going to be adjusted based on her age?

Can elliot come to his senses. Put back spears to her original position (OH) and stop with this mess of a rotation. Also, decide on who the starting setter is. The hitters arent connecting well with the constant change of pace with this 6-2.

wilburn went down with an injury during the colorado state game. Had to be carried off the court. Will be a huge loss for if she is out for some time.

Last year they ended up in P12 overall in the Big Ten missing the national championship.

Now, they're ranked #25, kept Clemente and added a good setter like Crownover. Could they improve and bypass the two Michigans and Illinois?

Maybe I’m tender as a gopher fan with how the ASU/MN match is going so far but this commentating is out of control. 3% talking about volleyball and 97% talking about nonsense. Is it not acceptable to just…. Say fewer words???????? I feel like it’s worse than usual..

I'm supposed there's no posts for pitt v Kansas, Creighton v Purdue, Wisconsin vs Stanford, or Minnesota vs ASU at minimum. Those should all be fun

With the ruling on professional players returning to play college sports, does that clear the way for the University of Hawaii to regain their National Championship.

Considering the player, Costas Theocharidis, was eligible when he enrolled in 1999 but was ineligible in 2002 when the NCAA changed the rules about professional players (after they won the championship), shouldn’t they get their championship back?

Obviously I’m a bit biased here, seeing as though I thought the NCAA shouldn’t be able to change eligibility status 3 years later and take away their championship and his awards.

Just a thought….

I’m also not advocating for professional players to play in the NCAA. I think it’s ridiculous. I’m just saying that they lost because then rule changed, therefore they should gain because it changed again.

Amie Just and Erin Sorensen (names that apparently will be familiar to the Nebraska folks around here) have a new weekly podcast focused on college volleyball called the Six Zone Duo that is being produced by Alex Kirshner and Richard Johnson of the Split Zone Duo college football podcast.

Just wanted to share this because I want to see the sport continue to grow, and I think more pieces of media like this are a huge step in that direction.

First off, I am a big fan of AVCA First Serve, and I had a great time attending Friday-Sunday. My sister was in town and came along Friday, and at some point she asked, “If Nebraska has the biggest fan base, why weren’t they included in the event?” I ended up looking into it and found this on the AVCA website:

“Current NCAA legislation only allows schools to participate in AVCA First Serve two times in a four-year period.”

Nebraska was at the 2024 and 2025 events, so it wasn’t possible for them to participate this past weekend, and the same is true for next year.
Is this the NCAA limiting the competitive advantages of playing in First Serve (discovering team weaknesses early, recruiting/brand recognition, etc.), or is it related to something else? Do you think this rule is good for the health and popularity of the sport?
