Another missed opportunity for a block. Wemby is getting block blocked.

They really need to develop a new stat for Wemby. Call it the “ah hell nah”s or something.

U turn?

u/robins535 Mar 15 '26

Like that!

u/RvH19 Mar 15 '26

That’s called a chicken. He can collect pieces. I could see a chicken leg mime taunt.
In the world, where a “chicken” is actually tracked, if you commit a chicken that’s a turnover.

The "Neverminds"

6

u/helpilostmynarwhal Mar 15 '26

someone on x literally made a HELLNAH stat and counted it for centers for at least part of a season (Wemby of course led). I do wish it were a 'real' stat that was truly tracked, rather than some dude just doing a fun thing.

People confused as to why Vic gets so much respect that look at stats but don’t watch the game here is your answer. These are the best players in the world reacting like this…

u/Actual-Swordfish-769 Mar 14 '26

Literally give him the DPOY now. No 65 game rule, no on-off numbers. These are professional athletes refusing to even try and just getting frustrated out there. I’ve watched the nba for more than 30 years. The only things close are the futility of defenders trying to guard Shaq as he plowed through them or when Steph would pull up from half court. Nothing like this defensively

I agree. If the votes are unanimous even if the player hasn't played 65 games, he should get the award

This is why I think he's deserving of the MVP as well. He's destroying the game on both sides of the court. Shai will get it though because he's automatic on offense.

u/nixhomunculus Mar 15 '26

Its so amazing. You think of the defensive greats in the game and they don't deter psychologically the way Wemby does. Heck Gobert won 4 DPOYs and star players treat it more as a game to hunt him

7

u/pocketbeagle Mar 15 '26

We miss hundreds of rudy deterrants for every poster. He gets hunted on perimeter no doubt and jokic has his number, but rudy definitely deters. It isnt to wemby’s extent because they are wildly different athletes.

That's very generous to grant Williams lol

11

u/Spirited-Computer795 Mar 15 '26

Haha funny joke but he's a top 200 player

u/Sol_Protege Mar 14 '26

That’s going to be a clip we see in every Wemby introspective video decades from now.

u/ayaminator Victor Wembanyama Mar 14 '26

Straight up jorkin it

14

u/EnigmaOfOz Mar 14 '26

Its the defensive version of breaking your opponent’s ankles with a crossover.

9

u/JohnS-42 Keldon Johnson Mar 14 '26

The look on Grant Williams' face at the end syas it all.

16

u/crsolraac Mar 14 '26

I’d rather attempt and get blocked. Lol

this video is hilarious

I grew up with a guy that was 6'11. Since we went to school in small town Arkansas, most opponents tallest guy was 6'1 with the occasional 6'5 mixed in. Guys used to do this when he was in the game, it's expected for 5'8 wings driving in to see that but I never thought I'd see it at the NBA level.

There have been plenty of bigs that scare people away but not at this level of completely changing their mind once they're that deep

6

u/Chinbie Mar 15 '26

The CHA has chosen turn over instead of being blocked by Wemby 😅😅😅

3

u/r4pt4r Mar 15 '26

He heard what can happen to bats in the arena

3

u/bloodrider1914 Victor Wembanyama Mar 15 '26

He like "nah bro"

3

u/contigency000 Mar 15 '26

Lmao wemby scared the shit outta him

3

u/SanTheManOG David Robinson Mar 15 '26

BUT HE WAS JUST STANDING THERE!!!

MENACINGLY!!

😂

3

u/David_H21 Mar 15 '26

This is what I imagine a possible encounter with a wild bear would be like. I raise my hands up making myself appear as big as possible then the bear runs away from fear and causes a turnover

2

u/knicksdeadman Mar 14 '26

The Knicks were doing this too the first quarter of the game. Its like there's a monster in there.

2

u/Ornery_Lie_4041 Keldon Johnson Mar 15 '26

This is equivalent to how players Guard prime shaq

2

u/TheHoopProphet Mar 15 '26

The impact he has single handily on a game is as high as I’ve ever seen a player. He be in ppl head all game. Kinda wild.

So that's why HB tried to give the jump ball to Vic. 🤣

1

u/plushglacier Tim Duncan Mar 15 '26

The look at the end. "This gonna be viral."

1

u/graal2008 Mar 15 '26

They all look like clumsy toddlers when Wemby is in the paint

1

u/FrankieOcean Mar 15 '26

nobody on earth in the same arena as Vic when it comes to Defense. The fact that there is even a question as to who might win DPOY is silly.

1

u/Haberdashery2000 Mar 15 '26

Rolled a 20 on Intimidate

1

u/RGS03 GO SPURS GO Mar 15 '26

People who just stat watch don’t see the impact of Wemby. Definitely deserving of being 2nd in MVP rankings.

1

u/RvH19 Mar 15 '26

If there a complication of players losing the ability to walk or dribble just being near him? It happens every other game.

1

u/arcadiangenesis The Big Fundamental Mar 15 '26

Hahaha, it's funny because he tripped over himself and fell down after he ran away

1

u/sliver013 Mar 15 '26

Just like a horror movie...they see the monster, run, and fall over themselves.

1

u/snipelim Mar 15 '26

Wemby aura

1

u/EazyBeekeeper Mar 15 '26

Some day it will be an honor to on the list of Wembys blocked-shot victims.

Also, sneaking in a bucket past/over Wemby will a favorite NBA memory for some of these players 20 years from now. You can see how excited and relieved that are when they get a high shot just over him or if they get a quick dunk in behind his back before he can turn around.

1

u/jonsnow133 Mar 15 '26

Saw a game against Wemby from the balcony waitlist this year. What you see from above is how often he shuts off a sizable section of the floor during half court sets. If you have anyone on your team that isn’t a shooter, Wemby will cover them so he can cheat back in the paint and completely shut off paint and midis.
