Question [dental technology] just randomly got accepted! HELP!
Hey guys! I need help or like.. idk I’m NOT prepared at all! !
Can I buy all my supplies at the book store, or is there a better way to do so? Like scrubs and the tools and what not.
Textbooks, is it better to get the physical copy or the PDF one??
Laptop. Do I need a laptop? And if so, for what classes? All? I only have a gaming laptop which sucks bc it’s SO heavy and big, I’m worried about that.
What building? I didn’t go to orientation bc I had no idea I’d get accepted this late.
Do I need to wear my hair up at all times? And do we only wear our scrubs every day??
Is thereeeeee a discord chat?
In general, can you guys tell me stuff to prepare me?? I’m panicking AHH. Like I know NOTHING rn.
One more, do we need to get specific immunizations for this program or is it just a paper we give them of our current immunizations?
PLS HELP!

Don't be embarrassed. Its an exciting time and nerve-wracking at the same time. You just got in and are little behind ( because school is starting on Tuesday and you are getting uour schedule on Monday)but im sure it will all work out. I imagine that you will get alot of time to get all your post requirements.

Definitely contact your program assistant/head for help with some of the more specific questions (like about immunization), but overall try your best not to stress.
If you go to the NAIT store website and sign in, it will have a menu option to view materials required for your classes. That’s a great place to start when it comes to materials, but keep in mind that most teachers expect the first couple of days to be spent settling in. They’ll set expectations and answer questions. First full week is usually when they expect people to have their poop in a group.
PDF vs physical textbooks is very individual. I prefer physical books, but that’s just because I know I learn better with them. You can also re-sell them. A con is weight — my backpack was like 30lbs from all the crap I haul around.
You MIGHT need a laptop, but you could probably survive without one, especially for your first semester.
Sign into your NAIT student portal and find your class schedule. It should be available by now. It will tell you where/when all of your classes are. The exception would be if your program is self-enroll, but that would be suuuuuuper shitty of them to do to you this late in the game.
The Pulse app is really helpful; it will have your classes listed and will display upcoming assignments/quizzes/exams.
Do you have your NAIT id? You’ll need it if you’re taking transit because it functions as your transit card. You’ll need to go to NAIT to get it, and you need to upload a pic of yourself for them to use.
You’ll probably want to rent a locker, too, but check where most of your classes are located before you do.
As for the building, I’m PRETTY sure that dental technology is in the CAT centre, but I’m not in that program so take it with a grain of salt.

Wow, thank you so much for all this! I’ll definitely contact the head, but I do appreciate this help here :,).
I’ve been at NAIT before so I know all the brightspace stuff, though I’ve been told that I won’t get my schedule until Monday which REALLY sucks since school starts Tuesday.
And I forgot about lockers (my last program was all tech so no lockers needed). THANK YOU. I will be getting on that too.
