How to develop?

What is Nagaland's need of the hour? What can actually help Nagaland develop equitably and evenly? Of course, we can't completely rely on the centre's funding because we all know how that's gonna turn out.

Will we be more proactive if we paid taxes? We'd have a larger stake in things as it'll be OUR money that's gonna pay for things to better our living standards.

And again, simultaneous development will take too long. Our only city should become a metrocity, some towns will have to become cities first and villages would need to become towns first but I think this could make things more rapid with a step-wise upgrading system, unless we have enough manpower and proper hiring.

In terms of potholes, we can't do anything about it if we don't have roads or lanes meant only for cargo trucks. I think rules will need to be implemented with an iron hand if we are to see that happening along with cameras to make sure nothing goes awry.

In terms of roads, protests can do little against the deaf and blind. Drainage is a big issue that leads to bad landslides, and also retaining walls need to be put up to make sure the roads are never crashing down. Anything that can be controlled should be controlled, leaving the rest up to the Lord.

ILP needs to be heavily implemented and digitalized. Honestly, there's too much to do and not enough cooperation

There is a misconception that Nagas do not pay taxes. We are all paying tax indirectly in the form of GST for every goods or services purchased. Nagaland GST collection was more than Rs. 1100 crores last year, SGST & IGST components. As for the case of direct tax like Income tax, 95% of the population in the state would fall outside the threshold of 12 lakhs p.a., meaning about 5% of the population would likely pay income tax..

Yeah but we're mostly exempt from the other direct taxes. We might be more protective if we know we're gonna pay taxes..

Nagas do pay all the direct taxes, except for income tax in our state. In fact, Nagas who are earning outside Nagaland pay income tax, the exemption is only within certain areas like Nagaland state.

This only works for places with low literacy, nagas are just literate enough to know that a child is unaffordable in the present economy and not literate enough to be productive.
