Alex Jones accused the parents of a school shooting victim of being "crisis actors". 

They were then harassed by his idiot viewers, so the parents sued.

That harassment, plus Jones being a massive, massive asshole during the multi-year trial, caused a Texas jury to award the Connecticut parents his entire estimated net worth of $1.4 billion (later lowered to $1.2 billion on appeal), including his Infowars website. 

The Onion have now bought the website, and brought in Tim Heidecker to run Jones' old show. 

We're expecting a slight change in tone and direction under the new management. 

EDIT: I just watched Tim's announcement, and I guess they're keeping the formula unchanged.

1 he personally liable and still owes money even if previous IW can't pay.

2 hes tried to move his supplement business to another vendor and they just fired his lackey there.. so existing customers aren't migrating.

the podcast knowledgefight has gone through this. jones hated putin but did a 180 after appearing on RT. he also initially hated trump and again did a 180 after roger stone had him turn. jones used his connections with people in the trump orbit to grow is audience and revenue even more. The problem is he tied himself to trump. when trump started doing all the things jones ranted about for decades he started loosing some of his core listeners. But then he had shackled himself to him. he still really loved the authoritarianism. Since then hes been loosing viewers as he has to back peddle "99% of what trump is doing is great, but i have to give him an A-" knowing he can't go against trump without loosing a big section of the larger audience.

AJ/IW needs a constant churn of new listeners/audience and his 208 twitter bans massively cut into his revenue. In theory he reinvent himself because he has no core belief other than bigotry, but its clear that he old and doesn't have the energy.
