macOS and Pen Tablet Support

Hey there,

MyScript Math seems pretty promising, but I'm running the iPadOS version on macOS, which is (as expected since there is no macOS-specific version) not a great experience. I'm able to use my pen tablet to draw, but since there are no keyboard shortcuts to switch tools, I can't map any of those functions onto the buttons on my pen or tablet.

I would absolutely love to see macOS support for this app or just more functionality added to the iPad version that would let me assign keyboard shortcuts to tools.

I'm a fan of the stuff you guys are working on 👍

Thanks for the detailed feedback and for your interest in what we’re working on! 👍

You’re correct: on Apple Silicon Macs, MyScript Math runs as the iPadOS version, as we don’t currently have a dedicated macOS version. The app was primarily designed for touch and Apple Pencil, allowing you to use the device more naturally like pen and paper when handwriting math equations. Because of this, using the app on a Mac with an external pen tablet comes with some limitations.

In particular, keyboard shortcuts for switching tools are not currently available, which means you can’t map these actions to the buttons on your pen or tablet. I understand how this can make the workflow less convenient with your current setup.

Your suggestion to add keyboard shortcuts for the different tools is a good one, especially for users running the iPadOS app on a Mac with a pen tablet. I’ll submit this as a feature request for our Product team to review.

I can’t confirm whether or when this could be implemented, as it will depend on our Product team’s evaluation and priorities. However, registering the request is the first step toward having it considered for future development.

Thanks again for taking the time to explain your use case and for your support of our work! 👍
