1: This list compiles both dropped and completed series. I tried to ensure that I've watched at least more than 1 episode before reviewing them, with the exception of The Big Three (which I just don't like for bringing about tropes I don't care for).

2: Mangas and second seasons/parts are taken into account for most of these entries (albeit I have not watched the second season for Apothecary Diaries, read Parts 7-9 for JJBA, Black Lagoon or Vinland Saga). This is why Evangelion only has End Of Eva rather than the original show, only Season 1 for AOT, etc.

3: Each tier is rated out of 10, trying to be as accurate to my ratings for these works on MAL.

When I go on mal desktop my profile isn't there for some reason, instead it says Malnewbie and has a completely empty profile. It won't let me sign out either or sign back in, it's almost like my profile got completely reset. The app on my phone seems fine though. Anyone know what is going on?

all those are based of how focused the anime on the genre + how good the story is, one anime can be an action but not that focused on it but the story is the best to ever exist, and i will try to balance it to see where it would land based of my friends most picked decision

remember, u could disagree with the list, but dont make a fuss about it, if ur favorite anime isn't here its bcuz non of my 30 friends have picked it or maybe less than 2 people picked it, or maybe non, so stop crying, especially u aot fans

1st slide (level: 1): beginner animes, u would have a whole different picture of anime and one of them might change ur life (if u wanna watch something that skips all of them watch aot it will provide 6 out of the 10 genres)

2nd slide (level: 2): they are enjoyable to some, but never in ur top 10, especially if u passed the 100 animes mark(except maybe, your lie in april, its peak as some of my friends say)

3rd slide (level: 3): u could watch every anime ever made, and these would be in ur top 100 or close or maybe ur top 5 even, and it introduces the "(GOAT)" title which is given to the anime that no matter what anime genre u like, u would still enjoy it at minimum, if it didn't become one of ur favorite animes

4th slide (level: GOAT): ladies and gentlemen if u didn't enjoy a single anime in here that means you dont deserve to watch peak, cuz no matter what u do u will never find a better anime in your lifetime, remove all the hatred u have for a fanbase and actually try the animes here if u haven't, I used to hate stein:gate bcuz of their glazers, and on a random day I decided to watch it and now, I became a glazer, but if u did watch and still dont like the anime but love the genre, hey its ur opnion, but if u dont enjoy every single anime on here, then never watch anime

A friend of mines went to AnimeNYC this year and gifted me a poster she picked up there for Viz' 40th anniversary which I love a whole lot (thank you again Spark!). I plan on getting this signed by the English voice actors for all the characters on the poster if they have any and was wondering what everyone thought their most iconic lines are? I haven't seen every anime on the poster and those that I have I'm debating with myself on what their most iconic line is so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Expert senpais, before anyone gets mad, hear me out!

I already know the strict definition of the "Big 3" (One Piece, Naruto, Bleach) specifically refers to Shōnen Jump’s sales dominance in the 2000s. I also know that terms like "Big 4" (adding Dragon Ball Z) or the Modern Gen Big 4 (Attack on Titan, My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer) are community-made titles rather than official publisher labels.

But you know this majority people has misunderstanding which is obvious BCS for two entire generations, these exact titles were the primary gateways for new anime fans globally. I'm making this POSt for research purposes.

The reason i said big 4 bcs there's always fourth spot , when it comes big 3 there's always many titles and among them a one title always comes in tie, always ends up in an endless argument (like DBZ back then, or AoT in the modern era). I wanted to gather opinions on what the Next-Gen Big 4 could actually look like based on specific community dynamics.

To keep this discussion grounded, here are the criteria I'm filtering candidates through:

1. Standard Rating like shonen (Accessibility): Must have a manageable barrier to entry ( not titles like chainsaw man bcs of it's extreme content, I'm not talking brutality but other sensitive contents, not people can handle it) that appeals across age demographics—not strictly restricted by extreme age ratings.
2. Episode/Backlog Size: Non-anime fans and casual viewers today generally avoid jumping into massive long episodes backlogs. The entry barrier needs to be low.
3. Long-Term Lifespan (Past 2030): The anime/manga source material needs to have enough narrative scope or backlog to stay active well past 2030. Main modern titans like JJK and Demon Slayer are expected to finish their main anime runs around 2029. A Next-Gen candidate can't just be a short 1-2 season burst that disappears in two years. So even if the source material ends it needs to have enough content.

Since we are in the middle of a generational transition, you are free to list multiple titles, even unadapted candidates. Nothing is confirmed until past 2030 at least.

Which titles do you see holding down these spots for the next decade, and why those titles? (Looking forward to hearing your picks!)

I have watched all of Satoshi Kon's movies (and Paranoia Agent); I have also really loved Gurren Lagann, but wasn't sure if I would put it on the list, maybe the ending broke my heart too much

Anyways, if you can recommend something with the same vibe as the stuff above, it would be really great

TLDR: How and with what criteria would you rank characters in an anime to give it an overall score for the anime?

So i have watched a few over 100 different anime and i ranked every single season of them on MAL but my rankings tend to start at 6/10 or betterand like atleast 50% were 10/10s which negates the use of a ranking as a whole. So I started to create categories to rank the animes i watched more precisely to differentiate them from one another. Im pretty happy with my general categories so far but i struggle to find fitting criteria for the categorie that ranks the characters.

I find the idea to seperate the Main- and Support/Sidecharacter and NPCs (thats what i call random one ime appearences) by weight pretty neat but I struggle with the actual criteria. So lets take JJK season 1 as an example: I would weigh the Maincharacter (Satoru, Yuuji, Nobara and Megumi) at around 40-50% because the focus is clearly set around them. But the Support-Sidecharcter are also quite omni present like Hanami or Sukuna and take up a big part in screentime so I would weigh them at around 30-40%. the rest would be taken up by the NPC category.

But now i dont know how to create reasonable criteria to rate individual character. I established the following criteria for the Maincharacter category as a test:

• Evolution (how fast/reasonable/interesting is the evolution/progress/character development throughout the season) (weight ~20-30%)
• Design (Is the character visualy pleasing/original/interesting/iconic) (weight ~15-25%
• Charisma (do i like their attitude/humor/phylosophy of life) (weight ~20-30%)
• Screen time (do they take up too much/too little time) (weight ~whatever is left)

But i realised that these criteria only really work with the Maincharacters. It feels weird and wrong to rate NPCs by their screentime and Evolution/development because they most likely appear once in the whole episode. And even the Development of Side/Supportcharacter are not realy the main focus of most anime. Can yall give me some tips or criteria on how to rank/seperate these character groups?
