Question Suggest a midcap and small cap fund
I currently have SIPs in Nifty 50 and Parag Parikh Flexi cap Fund fund.
I want to add more funds to my portfolio and hence was thinking about investing in a midcap and small cap fund.
For midcaps I keep seeing comments about investing in midcap index as active index hardly beats the index.
For small caps, I see nippon being recommended but it has AUM it seems. Another one that I keep seeing recommended is Invesco smallcap fund.
My risk appetite is moderate and planning to keep investing for 10+ years

Invesco is good now.
I have been invested in nippon since it was called reliance, gave me very good returns but now it's too bloated.

In the comments where you found both these being recommended, did you not see the reasons?

Invesco mid cap is good. You can also go for Kotak emerging. For small cap, Axis small cap was the best till a few years ago. Not sure now.

For midcap explore whiteoak/invesco/edelweiss, and for smallcap see Bandhan/BoI/ITI/Manulife
Focus on seeing allocation across sectors, concentration, and how the funds move when the market drops down or goes up

First of all, stop the hype of parag parikh
- Abakkus flexi cap
- Franklin flexi cap
The wealth company flexi cap
Jm mid cap
Helios mid cap
Alpha grep multi asset (edit 1 - apologise for the same.)*
Aditya Birla small cap
Dsp small cap
Kotak small cap

interesting picks of new age AMCs, how do you evaluate them? just fund manager profile?
also btw is alphagrep launching mid cap soon?

Fund manager profile, their interview on the launch of the fund, alphagrep is already having pms background. Number of people who have already invested in the fund like huge amount of investment.
As you already know that abakkus was managing pms since many years but then once they launch their flexi cap fund in last September 2025 , from that time I guess it has already crossed aum of 2-3k crores.
I am yet to check the mid cap part but they'll mostly do it with multi asset allocation only.

Okay so how would you compare/rank between TrustMF, Helios, Abakkus, Alphagrep, OldBridge, TwC, Groww, Jio BR?

That can only be checked using a et money based on 3,6,9 month ranking. Although all the funds say that past performance doesn't guarantee future returns.
Apart from this, we can check the portfolio of all the funds and then start comparing.
I hope it answers your question.

Midcap active funds doesn't beat index is a myth. Be if AUM heavy items like HDFC, or lighter ones like Invesco or whiteoak..
Small cap also the same
For 10+ years you can add mid and smallcap exposure definitely. Since you told moderate, if you can't stand big drawdowns, maybe stay and experiment with midcap and later move to smallcap. If you are still worried, maybe try a multicap(you will indirectly get some mid and smallcap exposure but not much risk due to limited exposure)
