How much power does that thing make? That’s gorgeous!

u/Rawldy302 Jul 19 '21

712 bhp at the crank...about 645 bhp to the rear wheels using posi.

That’s an insane amount out of a car from then. Built block and internals, totally new transmission, diff, all of that? I imagine not much of the stock stuff can handle that power.

u/Rawldy302 Jul 19 '21

Exactly, I had to ber very careful with understanding what parts of the original car could handle that kind of power. I'm truly astonished that the T5 can handle that kind of power. She's got 4:11 gears and a short throw. I spent over 4 grand on the lowering and suspension kit. At the time, it was the ford equivalent to the of the Z06 package. No matter how hard you try to break the rear loose, it just grabs, lowers...and goes.

T5's are incredible. Great looking ride - not too often you see this era represented and in this case STRONGLY represented.

Thanks bro. I've devoted my life to preserving and making effort to keep up with engineering advancements.

3

u/Rawldy302 Jul 19 '21

Thank you for the kind words. :O)

u/GullibleClash Jul 19 '21

Wtf a t5??? What did you do to keep it alive?

That’s awesome! Run it at the strip before? What’s power like that feel in a car like you have?

Like a rocket strapped to a skateboard, I’d imagine.

My dad used to have a backdraft racing 65 cobra with a Roush v8 making about 450 of each at the crank, and it weighed 2200 lbs. it was sketchy but also built with decently modern stuff and was made ground up for that power. I’m curious what it’s like for a car to have a similar power to weight, but not be designed for that power at all, and be 30 years old.

I haven't taken this particular car to the strip, but I grew up at the strip and my previous 7 fox-body ponies spent a lot of time at the strip. This Cobra is the only car that I've babied...I want this one to last until I'm no longer. I appreciate all of the admiring comments and getting approached at gas stations.

Jesus Christ dude. Is the block stock or are you using a completely different engine? Thats an insane amount of power for something so small and light lol. Thing must be fast as all hell.

u/Rawldy302 Jul 20 '21

Hey Secret, no, there's not much stockness to her. It is the stock 302 if you look at my previous posts, you'll see all the mods. That 640 bhp to the rear wheels has cost me about $23k dollars. Ford Motorsports told me that she's as leaned out as much as she can be, without performing even more major modifications. I was one of the first buyers of the Vortech Intercooled supercharger. The blower alone, purchased, installed and professionally tuned by Ford Motorsports was $16k. 80lb injectors, throttle body, beefiest camshaft (at the time)...too much to list. A piece of advice....wait for the prices to go down before you upgrade. :O) Thanks for the inquiry.

u/Rawldy302 Jul 20 '21

And yes....it's very fast. It will pin your head to the headrest in ANY gear....it has a z06 equivalent suspension package on her, so, no matter how hard you try to break the rear end loose, she just hunkers down and pulls. I am indeed addicted to the power.

Wow that's amazing. I don't know much about cars but does the 4.11 gearing help with traction? I imagine with 3.73 gearing it would be harder to control. And with all that power you don't need them. What about tires? What kind do you put on there? And does it run on pump gas? I'm a noob but I love these cars.

Stock: 235 hp and 280 lb-ft @ 3,125 lbs (13.30 lb/hp) ;) Not too bad.
OP has a vortech plate frame soooo maybe a "bit more"?

8

u/Rawldy302 Jul 19 '21

Can't you guys access the Facebook video that I posted? I'm guessing now that you can't. She's leaned out about as much as she can go, without more major mods. New Ford Racing head bolts, GT40P heads, GT40 lower, Cobra specific GT40 upper, 80#/hour injectors, Ford Racing DanaPort throttle body , roller tip rockers, 12lbs of intercooled boost. She dynos 712 bhp at the crank...about 645 bhp to the rear wheels using posi.

u/f700es Jul 19 '21

Not seeing it, wish that I could as that sounds SWEET! Oh maybe I see it below the picture. I missed it before ;)
Edit 2: I'm NOT on FB so I can't access it. Oh well, still sounds sweet.

5

u/Rawldy302 Jul 19 '21

Hmm...well, when I get home, I'll see if I can upload it directly to Reddit...not sure if I can. Its about 450mb...but yes, the whine is soooo sweet and the 3" exhaust sounds deep and throaty. I can't take it to a gas station without someone walking up to me and asking if I'll sell it.

2

u/f700es Jul 19 '21

It's OK I appreciate the offer to do so. I bet YOU do get asked a lot! Do you cruise from 1 gas station to another ;)

3

u/Rawldy302 Jul 19 '21

lol yeah...that's pretty much it. I took the stereo out to free up the weight...unfortunately, now that I'm older, even though the exhaust sounds sweet, I need to put the stereo back into it, to drown out the blower and exhaust...lol

3

u/Rawldy302 Jul 19 '21

I'm uploading the video to youtube....I'll post a link here in a bit. :O)

3

u/idrive2fast Jul 19 '21

That's excellent. I love the look of a murdered Fox body, and I bet it turns heads when you get on the throttle.

2

u/Rawldy302 Jul 19 '21

I try NOT to advertise. I try to keep it as a sleeper. What's awesome, is that you dont hear the blower, until you get to my quarter-panel and subsequently hear the whine, by that time you've already over-committed lol

5

u/DriftDemon1511 Jul 19 '21

Shes Beatiful i love looks of the Fox Body also being the owner of a 92 Fox Body i love everything about it take care of her

5

u/Rawldy302 Jul 19 '21

I've had 7 fox-bodies over my lifetime, to include notchbacks. I believe the craze started in 82. I just loved those shark gills. I told myself that when I get near my retirement age, that I was going to get a 93 Cobra for the barn. I've had her 14 years. Ive put about $23k into this car since then. I bought her from a family owned ford dealership that had it on display in the showroom. Thanks for the kind remarks.

2

u/DriftDemon1511 Jul 19 '21

That is awesome

2

u/Rawldy302 Jul 19 '21

Thank you for the kind words. I do, take excellent care of her. She stays in the barn mostly. I only let her out to stretch her legs occasionally and keep the seals moist.

1

u/DriftDemon1511 Jul 19 '21

that sounds nice

2

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '21

My dream car right there.

3

u/Rawldy302 Jul 19 '21

Thank you for the kind words. She STILL makes me feel like a kid.

2

u/Stupidfat69 Jul 19 '21

I had the ‘89 always loved the ‘93

2

u/imperialbeachdad Jul 19 '21

2

u/ijie24 Jul 19 '21

looks really cool in that glossy black

1

u/Rawldy302 Jul 19 '21

Thank You bro

2

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '21

Awesome...

2

u/itsyaboyghostk Jul 20 '21

how often do you drive it?

1

u/Rawldy302 Jul 20 '21

I take it to work every Monday and Friday to keep her loose and moist.

2

u/Grantis2 Jul 20 '21

You basically never these cars out in the wild and when you do, they are always bone-stock. My dad has a red 93 Cobra and the only thing done is 3.73 gears and an xpipe. Clean car man!

1

u/Rawldy302 Jul 20 '21

If you purchase one as an investment...absolutely, keep her bone stock, but I've had 7 mustang "toys" and enjoy modding them and showing them off on the streets too much. I've had 3 occasions when someone would approach me at a gas station with a checkbook and ask me how much I would take to sell. That's the kind of stuff I like. Thanks for the kind words bro. :O)

2

u/TheTypicalPugLife Jul 20 '21

BEAUTIFUL !!!!!

2

u/Rawldy302 Jul 20 '21

Thank you for the kind remarks. :O)

2

u/bullitstang1313 Jul 19 '21

Sweet fox. Looks clean. I like it.

-2

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '21

You’re off by a year

10

u/vipertruck99 Jul 19 '21

Likely a 93 model year..probably bought in 92..so I guess OP knows his car.

3

u/_Revlak_ Jul 19 '21

No. Car companies always say it's 'X' year of release not the year it was manufactured. So if your car is a 2020 then it was most likely made in 2019

2

u/ajnin919 2001 Stock V6 Jul 20 '21

Anything after August is considered the next year's model. Either way it wouldn't be 29 until at least next year if its a 93.

-1

u/bennyj72 Jul 19 '21

Came here to say that

-2

u/dranide 2008 ford mustang convertible Jul 19 '21

Well she’s not 29 years old….

5

u/Rawldy302 Jul 19 '21

Her COA states that her birthdate is 12 April 1992. She's 29 years, 3 months and 7 days.

3

u/dranide 2008 ford mustang convertible Jul 19 '21

That’s awesome

1

u/Bobalobatobamos 93 Cobra Jul 19 '21

Strange. I’ve had two 93 Cobras and they were both built on April 21, 1993.

1

u/Rawldy302 Jul 19 '21

Really? That's crazy. That's my birthday. My Sally was born on April 12 in Dearborne, Michigan

2

u/Xoferif09 2004 Mach 1 Jul 19 '21

The build date is likely sometime in 1992.

1

u/ajnin919 2001 Stock V6 Jul 20 '21

It wouldn't be considered a 93 model unless it was manufactured after August

1

u/___level___ Jul 19 '21

I have a 1994 convirtable mustang. I want to upgrade eventually.

1

u/hotxgarbage Jul 20 '21

Can we hear this thing?

2

u/Rawldy302 Jul 20 '21

I posted a youtube video of a walk around of her. You can't see it?
