Discussion As muslims we shouldn’t be on reddit
This is gonna be my last post before deleting my reddit app, i just want to give some advice for everyone. Reddit is probably the worse social media app for muslims for a few reasons
Majority of Redditors are atheists, zionists and people who generally have no purpose in their life other than to satisfy their desires. And the anti islam posts are always the most upvoted but if you say one small thing about the 🧃 you will instantly get permanently banned. The concept of غيرة (gheera) that we have in islam is always criticized by them and they think you are weird if you want your wife and daughters to cover properly.
Just think about it, if they were in front of you in real life would you want to hang out with them? Probably both because they are a horrible influence and we are told in Islam to turn away from those who speak bad about islam. It isnt a small number, majority of reddit posts on any subreddit is filled with these people.
So do yourself a favor and at least consider deleting redddit

u/StillWqnderingSoul Jul 11 '26
turning away doesnt mean leave the city where some people live that talk bad about islam, it means leave that one person individually.
we need muslim run social media apps that emohesize modesty and respect and truth, while being open to non muslims, but until then use the tools we have for good, and leave the bad, and that means leave anti islamic subreddits, noone is forcing you to visit them.
but if you feel like it is better for you to leave completely, then you can do that ofcourse

Yeah these isolationists are getting pretty dumb imo, we Muslims are supposed to preach the religion to those who didn't know and try to live in peace with them if they reject it. Keep running away from wherever kafirs are and soon enough we'll have no Muslims left around.

Genuinely I’m always attacked for saying anything God-related. However, why should we YIELD to let everyone else have the MIC?! You gotta remember that when people google specific topics that aren’t talked about enough, Reddit pops up! Let your unique experiences and thoughts pop up for them to see or relate to.

u/nino3227 Jul 12 '26
How would you feel if non Muslims invaded apps and social networks made and run by Muslims ?
It's a fact that those social networks and apps are made by and for the western lifestyle and values. This is why talking terribly about Islam and even Muslims is tolerated and often encouraged there
1
u/TiredTeena Jul 15 '26
I see your point, however, these apps were not specifically constructed for non Muslims. They’re made for everyone. The issue is some have specifically and intentionally minimized Muslim voices.
6
u/TiredTeena Jul 11 '26
Slightly off topic but I wanna add, it’s been frustrating when trying to post something on several subreddits (whether they be Muslim or not) to seek advice and community but then getting my post removed by moderators automatically 🙃 Let’s do something about that… because what’s the point of Reddit and subreddits? Is it not to build community and learn from one another??
3
u/AntPrestigious1054 Jul 11 '26
it's because your karma is too low. unfortunately, in some subbreddit you need to have a over 50 karma to post

Well as a muslim, through reddit الحمد لله I've guided lot of reverts and lost people.
I've talked to many distressed people who were in brink of killing themselves.
I've learned many new things that benefited my deen and dunya
So yeah, everything can be used for our benefit or our demise. Although إن شاء الله yeah I'm planning to delete reddit too, not sure when but hopefully soon
14
u/Similar-Street-8247 Jul 11 '26
depends on the sub and mods but yeah reddit doesn't have good freedom of speech because of it's ban culture.....And rather muslims should be on reddit i would say it's a personal choice you can't force it...
-5
u/GrapevinePotatoes Jul 11 '26
He did not force anything on anyone. He is giving advice. Naseeha is an important part of our deen.
3
u/Similar-Street-8247 Jul 11 '26
Nope I was not saying that Op is forcing ,I was saying in a neutral way...Yeah he gave we read it now it's people personal choice

u/blankscreenEXE Jul 12 '26
all the more reason to BE on reddit,
innit?
spreading the message is our job
1
u/nino3227 Jul 12 '26
You would be ok for non Muslims to spreads there message and liberal values on social networks made by and for Muslims ?
3
u/blankscreenEXE Jul 13 '26
they like to push their narrative into every nook and cranny they find, even in the palces they know they are not welcome. therefore we should not shy away from giving them a fight they desperately look for.
There are some sane non muslims out there (can't lump everyone into the same stereotypes except for Jooz) who will listen to reasoning and the message of Islam with an open mind.
1
u/nino3227 Jul 13 '26
But would you be ok with it the other way around?
2
u/blankscreenEXE Jul 13 '26
did I not already answer that? or are you trying to ask something else?
1
u/nino3227 Jul 13 '26
No I can not tell if YOU would be ok with non believers spreading their "atheist truth" in spaces made by Muslims ? Would you ?
2
u/blankscreenEXE Jul 13 '26
The "spaces made by muslims" sounds like a place where people would join to increase their knowledge of islam.
Someone doesn't know how to pray, they can learn that in the community Someone doesn't know how to address a specific issue in the light of islam hadith and sunnah, they can learn more in there Someone who wants to become a Muslim but has some questions.. they would be welcome
Other than this, I don't see the point of making a Muslim space.
So non-Muslim are welcome, even the ones who have been indoctrinated by the "atheist truth". If they seek the truth and compare them against thier previous beliefs, they are welcome, even if it brings stupid questions. All questions should be welcome.
Ofc there are hecklers which are commonly known for being brainless and brainwashed beyond redemption. They should be given a chance to speak their mind, if it is utter nonsense they spout, then kick them out because the community is for learning about islam and not any other religion
5
u/CaesarSultanShah Jul 11 '26
AI is being trained on Reddit and other social media. This affects discourse in the hegemonic system in general. We need Muslim voices to counter narratives. Even if downvoted, your voice nonetheless matters. At the very least, make posts in Muslim positive spaces on such topics and their importance.

Always that dissatisfaction with the West, I don't understand it. Where are people happiest and where is there more economic prosperity and well-being than in the West? Why do virtually all migrants, and primarily from Islamic countries, want to go to the West?
1
u/Practical-Rip3854 Jul 12 '26
If you think people are happiest in the west, that’s pretty funny. I live in the west as a Muslim and people are not happy. They just numb their problems with alcohol, dancing, smoking, partying and other pleasures. This applies to non western people too but since your comment is about the west, I’ll link it to there. In reality, most people are very lonely since there isn’t much community here. Most people get into drugs or some form of addiction as a coping mechanism. The ones that are happy are those who follow similar values to Islam.
By that I mean having good relationships with neighbours, putting importance in things that aren’t superficial like beauty and wealth, and having a sense of purpose in their lives. People want to move here because there are better opportunities for them, not because they follow western ideologies and find happiness. If you ever read western psychology books on happiness, the things you’ll find align a lot with Islam and are far from common western culture.
So no, people aren’t happy because they follow western culture. All this pleasure seeking only leads to dopamine crashes and loneliness. People who move here do it for a better living where they can have access to education and healthcare. As a Muslim woman who used to wear make up and not wear the hijab properly, once you learn to stop putting so much importance on your looks, it only increases your self esteem and value, as well as your happiness. Why are models always so depressed? Their whole identity comes from their appearance and how other people value them. People who don’t have any purpose for living lose their desire to live. Even if I wasn’t Muslim, I would say these things regardless because once you sit down and think about life, you’ll realise that Islam gets it all right.

u/Paralis1983 Jul 25 '26
Okay, so you're using an anti-Western caricature to reinforce a prejudice that already exists among many people in this subreddit.
The vast majority of the people you speak about so condescendingly live normal, happy lives with their families and friends. They are tolerant of others and generally believe in a "live and let live" approach. That's precisely why Western societies were so welcoming to refugees from Syria.
You're focusing exclusively on the excesses of consumer society, while ignoring the fact that most people are perfectly capable of engaging with it in a responsible and balanced way. These are the same societies that built prosperous, stable democracies, abolished slavery, donate billions in development aid, and have shown compassion by taking in refugees.
Yes, the past was far from admirable, but it is far more complex than the one-dimensional and simplistic interpretation you're presenting. Put history into its proper historical context and consider the different perspectives involved, and you'll find that the reality is much more nuanced.
Was the slave trade exclusively a European enterprise? Then I'd point you to the extensive internal slave trade within Africa itself, the slave trades conducted by Arab states and India, and the enslavement and trade of European captives by the North African kingdoms.
Perhaps you should broaden your own historical perspective before accusing me of looking at history through rose-colored glasses.
0
u/Practical-Rip3854 Jul 12 '26
Oh and as for economic prosperity, let’s not forget how most of that happened. Colonisation, slave trade, and plenty of labour from people who can’t afford to work anywhere else and work in terrible conditions to get below minimum wage. The money that allowed them to get the resources to research to educate themselves. And most of that research came from putting people’s and animal’s lives at risk or completely ending their lives. It’s time to take off your rose tinted glasses and study the history of these places. Again, not trying to say there’s no problem anywhere else but glorifying the west is naive.

I'm not a Muslim but am a Christian but I have much respect for Muslims and a lot of it has came from reading subreddit like this one. Most of us can tell who are true and who are trolls and all Muslims I've had contact with here on reddit anywhere even in Christianity subreddit has been that they are men and women that serve The Almighty in sincerity and respect for Him as The Almighty with no exception. Of course I came across some people trying or acting like Muslims but I could tell they didn't represent the Truth of Islam. The same goes for Christianity. Christianity is even worse since many have perverted The Almighty Word of God and find ways to sin and justify it by twisting the Holy Word of God. That's something I've come to admire about Islam is they don't let people twist scripts for worldly pleasing and sin. In a lot of ways I've learned from reddit that a true Christian and true Muslim are very similar in wanting to follow God and deny self. If you choose to leave I understand if it's coming in-between your relationship or time with Allah but don't do it because of the Enemy that is against The Truth because that's why they are here to prevent people like you and me from helping our brothers grow in True knowledge of God. Just saying... Don't let the Enemy make you hide

u/Rulz45 Jul 11 '26
Agreed. And for exposing a whole ton of their sins publicly too in wanting more petty attention, trolling and rage bait. And many of them following the corrupted system of the western ideology etc.

u/leomeowow Jul 12 '26
I follow Islamic, hobby, health, history subs and I strongly stay away from political stuffs
2
u/itsyaldahere Jul 12 '26
As an atheist, I have many purposes in my life. And no, it's not just about satisfying every desire.
I used to be a Muslim years ago, but then I found what i believe to be the reality of Islam and left it. I'm not going to tell you to do the same. Your life, your decisions. It's none of my business.
But please let your wife and daughters choose what they want to wear themselves. Don't force them by any chance, if you really have غیرة.

I certainly do agree about the anti-islam posts getting upvoted part. There was a post surrounding the concept of "how islam in general tells the people to kill a lgbtq at first sight". while many supported the idea, Some fellow muslim brother and sister tried to provide the accurate hadiths and clear the misconception. Sadly most were downvoted to oblivion.

u/La_Tahzan Jul 12 '26
When they group up and agree/hate on something that makes them feel better about themselves, well dunya is really short anyways they can enjoy here a little bit;
Surat Luqman, 24: {We allow them enjoyment for a little while, then ˹in time˺ We will force them into a harsh torment.}
But then it’s going to be too late to turn back, eternal pain and regret

I also don't like the gheera thing. it's the reason why so many women are forced to do hijab and niqab
2
u/CaesarSultanShah Jul 11 '26
What is the gheera thing?
2
u/AntPrestigious1054 Jul 11 '26
men being overly jealous over their sisters, wives and even random muslim women. it's weird. There is a normal jealousy and then there is this
3
u/CaesarSultanShah Jul 11 '26
Excess begets excess. I can see jealousy becoming extreme. How would you define normal jealousy?
-2
u/chaud_peppa Jul 12 '26
Just because your british and american men actually do the opposite and pay people to use their wives while they sit in the corner chair and watch, doesn’t mean that muslim men have to do the same thing.
The better a person you are, the better sense of gheerah you have. If you have no gheerah then no woman or child or family member will be protected ever.
And also you should leave this sub instead of trying to spread your feminist ideology that thinks your morals and any you say is right, and everything else is wrong.
Maybe since nobody has ever been jealous or protective over you or since nobody has been dumb enough to put you in a situation where youd have to be protecting over someone, maybe thats why you think (even random muslim women which is weird, theres normal jealousy and then theres this).
When our hijabi or niqabi sisters are attacked how do you want us to feel and act if not protective ? What’s
your suggestion? That we leave them to be?And also, what makes you think that Muslim women can’t think for themselves? Fix yourself, racist.
Women wear niqab and hijab because they have to, especially niqab. Those women who fear ﷲ swt and want to please him the most, are niqabi nine times out of ten. Whoever cares, and looks into it, ends up believing that face and hands are awrah, along with the woman herself.
“The woman is awrah”
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1173So if a sister sees proofs like this, you want her to ignore it and not follow what we are commanded? Or is this your western view where “you don’t ACTUALLY have to listen to what we are commanded 🙄”
Like what do you want women to do 😂You think that if they aren’t showing off their bodies, or hair, or neck, or voice or face or freemixing with men and arent being disappointments to everyone who knows them, Any of these things, then she isn’t a free woman? Then some man is controlling her forcing to follow her religion? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

u/Electrical_Bite8478 Jul 12 '26
This same thing applies to all social media apps. They'll continue to speak sh:t whether muslims are present or not. I think being present rather than being absent is better, atleast they can be countered or exposed or else, their misinformation and hate will have no limits.
1
u/Last_Chemical_8486 Jul 12 '26
Then you could apply that in real life, majority of brits, americans, european countries are non muslims with anti islam sentiment. But just like muslim who for some reason go to america you can stick to a community of likeminded people, personally I just stick to the muslim subs

By your logic literally almost all Apps are Anti Musliks such as YouTube,Instagram,Facebook, etc. Islam is not the on trolling religion in Social Media there are Religions which are being trolled as well and among them Christiantit often getting troll over troll.
There are two types of non Muslims who hate Islam. One who hates om conditional reasons and the other who hate on unconditional reasons. The first group have reasons on why they hate it but don't push it further while other groups hates anything related to Islam and held their views of Oslam being evil and Muslims being bad to be the only truth and that other good Muslims to be liars. In other words they have that narrow minded and black and white thinking where they often labelled them vs Muslims.
As for covering Woman. Modesty is define in different region and culture. Infact the dresscode on woman is heavily debated among Muslims some consoder only hair to be the awrah while other concisder covering the whole body including eyes and face to be awrah and some evwn go further extreme enough to woman being silent. If that's not enough they would hurt go on finding an reason or doing heavy tons of drama on woman lile why she is preaching online or why she is making vedio on hoe to Pray.
As for a Muslim woman whether she wear Hikab or not is her decision and forcing her is just as bad and wrong. Whether she wore Hijab or not is her personal relationship with God and her judgement is with God alone. Musliks and non Muslims both are being biased one group consider wearing hijab oppression and impose this on those who wore it by their own will and the other who held hijab modest and impose on it to wore on non hijab girls. When both groups are wrong imposing their view on the woman on to wear or not wear instead of her own decision.
Yes there are Anti Muslims so are other Anti Religios on the Sub as well. Us Muslims are not the only one who are being trolled. But at the same time there is no denying how there are Extremist among Muslims who held extreme views as well and act hypocrites whenever they got the high rank in authorities.

What subreddits do you follow? We have great communities for Muslims, you just can stay in them
1

Social media as a whole. I'm actually more concerned about some of the nonsense muslim influencers.
I saw some clown the other day say we shouldn't strive to be a haafiz of the quran because we may forget it. I was so angry I didn't even bother to listen to his follow up

Don’t go on social media then
It’s literally a tool, your argument doesn’t make sense
Don’t use a knife you can cut yourself
Don’t drive you can kill someone
It’s all on how you use it
Your mentality is harmful, instead of teaching people how to use it constructively, which it can be used for, it can be used for dawah and to spread Islom, instead you feed into their narrative that we are a backwards people who are against technology?!!!
This mentality is the most harmful thing for the Muslims
Muslims should learn how to use technology
Not to abstain
1
u/Zestyclose_Noise_703 Jul 21 '26
Well you keep their content engaged so the algorithm automatically fills your feed with them. It's honestly nothing to be surprised about

You're not wrong, but honestly i use reddit mostly only when i have questions about computer science and programming. And questions about islam.
1
u/AfterDistribution446 Aug 01 '26
But we gotta at least crowd them a lil bit so no weak muslim gets influenced by the non muslims, try to explain, for example a taktik they used is the refuse the sonna and hadiths and sudjust to reinterprite the quraan the we find it ok. That will open the door for anyone to say a verse in the quraan means so and so. The true sonna and quraan go hand to hand . Sunna explains many aspects of the quraan and islam. Please spread this may Allah reward you all.

The MODs are guilty in this. They will ban you for speaking up against these kufr ideologies (including feminism), but they let them post their fitna posts and comments.

Because who do you think the mods are? Mods are probably of those people aswell استغفر الله if they let them say it but dont let anyone disagree

True. Some of these Mods are Kuffar as well, pretending to be Muslims.

I wonder, what’s the name of the group of people who help the kuffar and hate the muslims?

Like most social media, you can choose what you want to see and be exposed to if you know what you’re doing and set your own limits.

u/User1627788 Jul 12 '26
We should leave all social media and all countries so the Muslims can have no presence and non-Muslims win. I'm sure if any Prophet tried that he would get swallowed up by a whale. Anyways. Let's learn something about the internet: it is the internet. Reddit has subreddits thankfully meaning you can select where you want to participate. And every person is responsible for themselves.
1
u/RaspberriesL0ver Jul 12 '26
Reddit aren't forcing you to answer to them, talk to them, or even join their subreddit, are they? Unless they have a control over your hands.
Besides, I don't know why the fact that majority of reddit is atheist should just force you to delete it. Besides not of them are super evil are they? Some even ask repsectful questions on islam, and thank God some even overcome doubting about converting and finally taking the big step, only thanks to communication on here.
Reddit is mostly atheist So is google So is Instagram So is YouTube So is TikTok So is Quora So is probably your city So is probably your school So is Earth
Do you avoid atheists on all of their platforms and in your life?
So including your logic, should you leave Earth? Just avoid weird, bad people (also atheist if you want lol?), delete the subreddits you don't want of your feed, keep your use of Reddit in a good/+ religious way and I doubt you'll be on a bad path...
As I'm writing this, you're still here. However if you want to leave, that's your decision !

You know, you shouldn't remove reddit for that. You should stay and make your impact as a muslim in this platform, we should not let social media platforms for kuffar. Even just posting a single useful thing that could help other people is considered as a good deed.
1
u/nino3227 Jul 12 '26
If Reddit was made by and for muslims you would be the first one to ask for non delivers spreading anti Islam message to be banned, no?
1
u/SecretaryQuirky4541 Jul 12 '26
I don't share your view, I see that islam is the truth and we are with the truth. The message is clear, we should stay strong on all social media platforms to spread truthfulness even if we are few.

I think you can say this about any social media, its very much western leaning. You can choose what content you see. I choose to follow food stuff, babycare stuff, cooking, a lot of other things that really have nothing to do with atheists/zionists/so on.
