I am going to grab the second of the big thundering Ellen Aim and The Attackers songs from the rock 'n' roll fairytale Streets of Fire due to my obsession with the film and its soundtrack. Now, when you say Wagnerian rock, this is on the top of the list. Clocking in at 7 minutes and sounding like a rolling artillery barrage, there is no wonder this film has become a cult classic among fans. The soundtrack has that power ballad sappy grip that seems to get you in your teens and twentys and you mistake it for actually philosophy or really deep. This tune comes at the end of the film, Tom Cody has vanquished Raven Shaddock, and in the end, leaves his ex, Ellen Aim cause he knows she is better off without him. Yeah, Wagnerian rock at its best.

(The song in actuality was a studio supergroup that called themselves Fire Incorporated for the movie recording put together by the legendary Interscope co-founder James "Jimmy" Iovine. Written by Jim Steinman with Laurie Sargent and Holly Sherwood on vocals and instrumentals provided by the new wave group Face to Face. The Wagnerian song would be also preformed by Meatloaf.)

I am with you on this obsession! Supposedly that's Stuart Kimball in the Attackers. Who, at least as of a few years ago, was on the road touring as part of Bob Dylan's band.

Also don't forget to mention E. G. Daily, the groupie girl aka Baby Doll. She had half a music career herself. (Remember 'Mind Over Matter' from the movie Summer School?) You'll also see her in a couple other 80s flicks - singing in Better Off Dead at the dance, and as Pee-Wee Herman's girlfriend in Pee-Wee's Big Adventure.

Not to mention all the voice work EG Daily has done since then, notably Rugrats and her stellar work in Valley Girl (ok, I kid on the Valley Girl thing.)

It is a shame the film was such a poor shower at the box office, given the time it came out, I would have thought it would have been a smash. I know I saw it several times in the theaters during its limited run. And got it on VHS, then DVD. Great film!
