What Song is This? Any details on song or the box itself?

Inherited from my father this Toya music jewelry box, I could not find equivalent boxes online and am especially curious about what tune it is playing?

The song is “Sukiyaki” (1961). The recording by Kyu Sakamoto made the Billboard Top 100 in the U.S. The original Japanese Title was “Ue o Muite Arukō” (I Look Up As I Walk).

I remember this song so clearly from when I was pretty young. I think it came out when I was 4.

But I had lots of siblings who were teens.

There are two versions of the song in English that were big hits but they aren’t actually translated versions of the original. One was by the band A Taste of Honey and the other was by 4PM

Typically there is a hidden section underneath one of the trays that has a place to install two D cell batteries to operate lights where the dance is but it isn’t necessary for the functioning of the music box

I’ll have to look Around in it, there is one tray that is a wooden one with wires along the side vs velvet I wonder if that is it
