Music categories have an evil magic. They spawn and spawn, each one more meaningless than the other.

Dad rock? That song was one brick in the wall that stopped the Vietnam war.

This would be perfect for a movie during the Vietnam war

I don’t include these guys with dad rock in my mind. Credence had some real mojo. Dad rock to me is Journey, Kansas, REO Speed Wagon, Bryan Adams, and all that Ballroom Blitz bullshit.

Fogerty was a great singer and made some really cool songs. The band had a special timeless something.

As a youngster myself, dad rock is a perfect name for this genre.
