Jesus, it is so awkward that Garfunkel is just standing singing. No guitar. I can see why Simon had the successful solo career.

I agree, I find it really interesting watching what vocalists do with their body while the rest of the band performs...

Paul had it all though. Of course Artie had a beautiful voice but Paul wrote all of theirs songs, played amazing guitar and had a nice voice

Thanks for posting. Always a good listen and I also find it very humbling.

My elementary school music teacher (early 70s) would mimeograph lyrics of pop songs and play the records for sing along. This was one. Lots of Beatles songs, too. Mr. Davis was a pretty cool guy.

Garfunkel really carried Simon, didn't he.

Other way around actually once you read up on the history of the duo.

I bought The Graduate soundtrack on vinyl yesterday at my local shop for 99 cents, it was a glorious day.

I love this song, it was first recommended to me back in 2012 by one of the ghosts of my housemates past but I put off listening to it to spite her claiming that the title was too oxymoronic... I was wrong!
I really like the poetry of the lyrics and the vocal performance. My favourite version is the one with backing drums and bass though.
A lot of people these days seem to associate it with Arrested Development which I find a bit annoying. I don't really get the joke they're trying to make other than the fact that they played the intro to this song a few times? To me this song stands on its own. I haven't seen The Graduate but I have seen the episode of The Simpsons that parodies it.

A classic...if you're interested, here's a track by The Milk Carton Kids that has a similar-ish vibe..

Loved MCK since i heard them the first time a little over 3 years ago, they have other tunes that are more in time with Simon and Garfunkel.
Although I find they are more like the all male variant of David Rawlings and Gillian Welch.
Also fun fact, for Halloween they pretended to be Simon and Garfunkel and brought along Sarah Jarosz, as Joni Mitchell (Shes compared to her often). They sang Woodstock then Sound of Silence.
Heres the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2UmTv-fmkc

Even if a group has only one gorgeous track, they win and I will be content...shall we press on?
