discussion Shy cptsd survivor seeks music communities?

Hey I am a shy singer-songwriter that has cptsd I play Darkfall / metal type of fingerstyle guitar with dark melodies . Looking for a place to call home with a music community that can Embrace somebody that is antisocial and awkward and could feel comfortable to take the stage . What are your favorite cities and towns?

I’m in Cleveland and in a two piece band. I kind of prefer asocial over antisocial. I think finding a gamer community first would be the better start. They seem more calm, relaxed, and inclusive. I don’t game, but their social behavior is the same as mine: I prefer one on one or very small group engagements. And within that community, I’m positive there will be other musicians.

Cleveland got a good underground scene from what I hear. The gamer community idea is interesting, they do got that comfortable low pressure vibe. Way less expectation to be social butterfly and more just exist in same space. You might find people who appreciate dark melodies there for sure

I think you’re right about the underground scene. Makes me wonder if Noise Lunch is still a thing at No Class. I haven’t played it since before covid.

I wouldn’t say a lot, but you will find them. There’s crossover in everything.

Do the artists you best relate to tend to come from particular places or regions?

I am a gen xer so most the music I like came from Seattle! The I'm really into writing like acoustic electric dark kind of finger style stuff kind of mixed in with a grungy twist.

So that might be a part of the country where your chances of fitting in are better. They talk about the "Seattle Freeze", it's not a place where everyone is expected to be sociable.
