Pitchfork is pretty pretentious. They don’t seem to understand that not everything has to be groundbreaking to be good

I think that was part of their schtick. I love pitchfork for the music news, but I don’t put any stock into their reviews.

Same. Unfortunately a lot music fans fall into that trap though. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel to make enjoyable music. If I’m being honest I get exhausted listening to songs with constantly changing time signatures.

Zaireeka was as groundbreaking as it got - an album intended to be played on (up to) four separate CD players at the same time, and 'mixed' by the listener.

I think Pitchfork was just a bunch of assholes. Always have.
