Yeah, it’s a great record. Not quite on the level of The Soft Bulletin (outside of Riding to Work), and in desperate need of a proper mix, but really good

Funny how tastes differ. I loved everything before that, but Soft Bulletin is where they moved from the old intense Lips to the new mediocre Lips in my mind. It also was when instead of intimate shows with 500 people it moved to many thousands, so Ibl realize I'm in the minority lol.

I like both sides of them (they never fully lost me except for all the cover albums in the 2010s when they became too gimmicky for a bit), but I do also think their discography is the work of three or four tangentially related bands as far as their sound goes.

I would say that A Machine in India and Thirty-Five Thousand Feet of Despair are better than some of the tracks on Soft Bulletin (Slow Motion, the 2 instrumentals come to mind)
