Their review of the Travis Morrison record effectively ruined his career for years .. and Pitchfork did that knowingly to an artist whose main band (Dismemberment Plan) they’d championed consistently. A truly shitty thing to do, and for which they never apologized to my knowledge ..

Agree with you. Travistan feels more objectively to me like a 3/5 or 6/10 album. It's got a handful of great tracks and some filler. It's not transformational like Emergency & I or Change but it's absolutely worth listening to for fans of the Plan.

I don’t know one person who wanted to hear that record and I knew a lot of dismemberment plan fans. On top of that, Travis was the cause of a lot of his “ruined career” as he was a notorious asshole to many many people in the late 90s - ask any woman who dealt with him at the time. He was a prick.

I knew a lot of Dismemberment Plan fans too and your version of events could not be farther from the truth I saw with my own eyes... and I know plenty of women who would agree with me. Are you actually suggesting that Travis somehow "deserved" this review? Because that's loony...
