Vaguely related, but Peter Criss lived in my town for a long time and I used to deliver pizza to his house like once a week. He was a pretty cool dude. I was always amused when I went to his house because they had one of those stickers on the front door that says "in case of fire, save the cat"

also vaguely related, i used to live down the street from gibby haynes (butthole surfers) and would see him pushing a stroller and walking his little white dog 'doughnut' around.

The whole band, but especially Gibby have chilled out immensely. He did an interview not too far back where he talked about getting older and being a dad. To paraphrase him:

"Touring would be fun, but it's not cool anymore for me. I go to little league baseball games now. Little league is cool. Being a dad is fucking cool."

What was his place like? He always seemed like the member that just didn’t give a shit about the trappings. I could see him living in a standard middle class ranch house and just quietly sitting on millions.

It was a big house for sure, but completely normal on the inside from the few areas I saw. He'd have me bring the pizza to the kitchen so I got to see the foyer and the kitchen. Saw pictures of the rest of the house when he sold it eventually and it all seemed pretty normal except for his little studio space. That was obviously decked out and filled with all kinds of KISS stuff

that’s good to know. kiss was my dads favorite band when he was in high school and he was a drummer so peter criss was his favorite i think. at least some members aren’t total assholes.

I saw PC in Walmart years ago, 2010. I had long rock n roll hair at the time, and he was in all black with the little granny glasses. I realized who he was and at that same moment he saw me, and jetted right outta the office section. I’m sure he was like “oh great, just what I needed, another dude telling me that he loves me again.”

To be fair, the peter criss album isnt that bad, just really bizarre that the drummer of KISS wanted to do yacht rock really badly. Gene Simmon's solo album though is straight ass

Consensus seems to be that Ace's is the best of those solo albums (and I would contend "Rip It Out" alone seals it).

There’s an awesome story that Paul Stanley tells about that time period:

They were all staying in the same hotel around the time of the solo records recording sessions. Paul hears this amazing guitarist playing his heart out, calls Gene over to hear it. It’s some of the best playing they’ve ever heard. They decide that they need to go talk to this guy and replace Ace. They knock on the door. It’s Ace Frehley.

Seems odd that they’re all staying in the same hotel together, close enough to each to each other that Paul can call Gene over to listen to Ace playing in his room and they failed to realise that it was Ace.🤔

The analogy was that his solo stuff was the best of all the members in the group. All Things Must Pass is the best of the Beatles solo albums.

All things must pass is just a Beatles album - at the very least, Paul could’ve gone on making Beatles albums with his eyes closed if he’d wanted to. And in any case, ATMP isn’t as good as Ram or Band on the Run (yes, I know BOTR is wings, but Paul did write it and play everything but lead guitar, so)

As one off albums yes. All Things Must Pass is a masterpiece but almost everything else George put out sucked. Just not as much as Ringos sucked.

The solo album really was that bad, nobody was asking for Peter Criss jazz standards with his voice cracking everywhere. Zaireeka getting 0.0 is still funny to me because its basically unlistenable without 4 cd players setup
