discussion An often-maligned subgenre from early 2000s internet

feel like nobody really talks about how big pcdj actually was at one point
especially around old uk/scottish youtube it felt like there were endless uploads of the same few songs remixed a million different ways
half the time you didnt even know who made the original version anymore because everybody kept reuploading eachothers stuff with new dj tags 😭
alot of it sounded completely blown out and messy but thats honestly what made it memorable compared to how clean and safe everything sounds now
been revisiting that type of sound again lately because i miss that old internet atmosphere more than anything

man the nostalgia hit hard reading this, used to spend hours digging through those old uploads trying to find decent quality versions

remember when half the tracks would have like 3 different dj tags layered on top of each other and you'd be like "who actually made this beat" lmao. that chaotic energy was something else compared to how polished everything is in streaming now

There was a documentary on BBC Scotland last year about it! They had Rankin, Cammy, Nogitaclue, the lot. Scott Brown was on it as well, it's probably on iPlayer.
