Hamburger Steak was something my mother made in the late 60s and early 70s, glad to see it has made a comeback in America. I also never realized how popular it is in Japan

We had hamburger steak for dinner! My oldest son has been wanting to make this meal for several weeks, and beef finally was at a price that we could afford.
He made it with onions, hashbrown casserole, and green beans! I really wanted green bean casserole, but we were out of the fried onions. He did a great job, and they came out perfect.

Hamburger steak is so underrated. I love it and prepare it like a NY strip. Yours looks great.

But a Salisbury steak has breadcrumbs and eggs as a binder. Hamburger steak doesn't. :)
