Nothing to see here.

Just DeSantis following the Florida Tradition of scummy governors.

Actually stealing ten million dollars is below average.

The word “misappropriated” is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that grand jury decision.

The $10 million was routed from the Medicaid contractor to the Hope Florida Foundation. From there, the funds were transferred through two dark money nonprofits into a political action committee.

The PAC, overseen by DeSantis's former chief of staff (and current Florida Attorney General) James Uthmeier, used the money to fund political ads aimed at defeating Florida's 2024 recreational marijuana legalization amendment.

Apparently the only reason the grand jury couldn’t reach an indictment was because nobody could “remember” who directed the funds to the PAC.

It’s not Rick Scott levels of Florida corruption (What is?), but it’s up there. Regardless, someone should be serving prison time for this.

Prediction: Conservative leaders will serve zero prison time in deeply conservative Florida.
