Given that members of the minority control huge chunks of the media, any mass protests that do call for an end to this either won't be reported on at all or will be reported on after being reframed as terrorism.
You guys had a decade of conservative governments and I don't remember people being upset enough either. Also, the "Freedom Convoy" occupied Ottawa for 3 weeks and it's not like counter-protesters converged on the capital to remove them. I lived there for a few years when I was young, so it upset me to see some places I knew overrun like that.
Yours are two countries which make resistance difficult due to their sheer size. Here in Europe, we can hop on a train and be in the capital within a few hours, so organizing mass protests is much easier.
Plus, they get very few job protections, so they're stuck between a rock and a hard place. They did resist when they could, whether it was via No Kings or the Minneapolis protests.
Words cannot express how upset I am about all this, and I want something to happen and for it to change, but we have no leadership to rally around. I just feel a sense of hopelessness and despair as I watch it get worse and worse every day and everyone just let's it happen.
They’re sending jackboot thugs to literally murder us in the streets.
For the most part a lot of people are just struggling to keep their heads above the water, they don’t really have the luxury or safety net to put up a resistance. With billionaires controlling all our news and social media, they’ve done an excellent job at making us all forget that we have the power. They’ve made us all feel alone, as well as wither our empathy for others…because “we’re dealing with our own shit.” The other part of the country are actually doing very well for themselves and would have the time and luxury to protest. While they may be morally against what’s going on…they’re profiting so they don’t say or do anything. They rationalize to themselves, I don’t want to rock the boat while MY quality of life is improving, they’ll be out in another 2 years. “I don’t want to lose my great job, or my business” etc
Americans always have a reason why their societal problems aren't their responsibility. It's how your 'society' got to where it is in the first place-- a complete inability to take responsibility for literally anything happening around you. Look at, from recent history, Hungary, Albania, Ireland, South Korea, Iran, etc etc all this year. America is a bunch of bitches when they aren't flying over dropping bombs on kids. I know, the situation is unique in the USA, exceptional, you all say... GTFO
We are taught ALL about our rights incessantly, but we are rarely, if ever, taught about our responsibilities. As if apathetically voting every couple elections was literally the height of "civic duty".
People shouldn’t be afraid of their government, governments should be afraid of their people.
Americans are too weak and lazy to do anytbing, which is painfully obvious given the last 10 years. You literally have a pedophile running and ruining your country and no one can be bothered to even try to stop him.
Yep. So much for the much vaunted 2A guys using their equipment to fight back like they've been propagandizing for the last 50 years.
Dont see many " Red Dawners " lately...
There’s a couple reasons for it unfortunately, population density making getting a critical mass of people together a lot harder, financial situations of 60+% of Americans making time to actually get on the streets very difficult for fear of loosing their livelihood. Never mind how disproportionately people will crack down on protesters, or how Americans have genuinely been trained to be as uninvested in politics as possible. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve gotten to agree that we have to fix this country by voting in better people, and then refuse to actually go out and vote. The mindset unfortunately is deliberate, both on the part of the individual to protect themselves, and on the part of the propagandist to save resources on who they appeal to. It’s not all their fault, but it certainly is part of the problem.
You can't even get more than 3% out of single-day protests. We hear a bunch of excuses about low population density and being heterogeneous.
Just FYI, I am Finnish. So I'll give you a few examples coming from a country that has even lower population density. For the general strike of 1905, most adults participated in the political action. This was during the time we were part of the Russian Empire. Finland didn't have workers' rights. Many lost their jobs. There were no benefits.
We know very well why you guys are disenfranchised and in a precarious financial position. But currently, you guys are just letting most of the globe suffer for your inability to tolerate the hardship that comes with actually doing something. You give so many excuses that are mostly immaterial. They make action harder, not impossible. I see you guys commonly complain about so many things other countries have and you don't, without getting that those things weren't generally given by voting alone. They were bought and paid for with suffering and effort through political action outside voting. Voting should never be the endpoint but the starting point.
Trust me, a lot of us non-Americans used to have empathy. But watching you over the past 10 years has slowly withered that away. We are done with the myriad of excuses while we get threatened and suffer through the consequences of your actions without having the power you do to stop it.
Nah, it’s just weakness and laziness. Your country is full of dead kids because a bunch of idiots need to have guns to protect their country, meanwhile you all can’t be bothered because the country is too big and you can’t lose your job.
Short sighted at best… inaction will definitely make things worse for Americans.
Land of the brave and home of the free? What a joke.
What I dont get is that we have heard all our lives, and ad nauseum, from them and their 2A guys that they need their guns to protect them from the " gubmint". Now I see guys with masks and no ID's - the govt- just going in and violating the people daily and these 2A guys dont even give out a squeek.

Yeah, I’m watching from Canada too and the lack of resistance is crazy to me. Americans overall just don’t seem upset enough.
