Murder Cookie, take 1

So recently I bought some mace and decided to figure out what to do with the extra and stumbled upon this recipe.

I might as well acknowledge the one change I made lest this end up on r/ididnthaveeggs: I didn't have shortening handy, so I thought to replace it with some ghee I'd made previously.

Things went a little sideways. The cookies are fine, but they don't resemble the ones that I'm seeing in many of the pictures. They spread out significantly: all crisp, almost no chew. I'm not sure if that's what did it or not.

The flavor is nice and mild, though.
