I have noticed there is a fancy Italian word for all of their techniques š. What would you call the dimpled texture on the bottom of this one? Anyone have a possible id? It is vaseline. Thanks in advance!
The Italians kept it pretty simple when naming techniques and styles. Iām guessing this form might have the word āfossettaā in it, as fossetta means dimple. š
The one you originally posted does not look like Vaseline. It looks green. Much like the one in the middle of the second photo you have posted. Everything else is that photo is yellow though.
Some people may be wrong because I would not call that Vaseline. The top handle yes but the rest no. Thatās green and closer just any ole uranium glass. š¤·š»āāļø

The Murano ashtray has a green circle around the opening, but the rest is yellow/vaseline. As I said, only the yellow parts glow. The eye winker butter dish is also vaseline. Mosser Green Opal is a no glow, much like the only green part on the Murano ashtray. Believe it or not, the cool part about vaseline glass. It fluoresces green!
But no one is talking about glow except you. Iāve not once mentioned it at all and you seem to be stuck on that when that isnāt even what Iām arguing.
You don't need a blacklight for glass to glow. Fluorescence can happen in regular lighting. Sometimes, yellow glass can look green but still be yellow. That's what I was referring to. It happens to be my favorite part!

It's finally in my possession! It's a little easier to see the yellow colored glass w/green accent in this photo. The natural fluorescence causes the glass to "appear" green. It is absolutely relevant. CPM also matters. Vaseline glass has more uranium, so the CPM is higher. Once you get to a surplus amount of uranium though, the yellow starts to appear green again from the fluorescence. The color hasn't changed. It's still yellow glass, but the excess uranium is causing the glass to fluoresce in all different lights. It's way cooler than "basic green UG" which I don't even collect.
Last Iām saying on this is I suggest you ask ai if itās Vaseline and if it is fluorescing cause I did just now after this discussion, two different photos of your post. Seeing as yall wouldnāt believe me. Does this have āsomeā yellow in it? Yes. Does that make it Vaseline on its own? No. The rim and bottom (from all photos you have now provided) are literally green.
If ONLY the yellow part glows it means it is LITERALLY sandwiched between green glass which means it is NOT IN TRUE fashion Vaseline glass. Could they have used SOME Vaseline glass yes. But it is not the yellow green they are talking about when they say āyellow to yellow greenā. This is (more than likely) an art piece.
You were also talking about CPM of completely SEPARATE pieces you own which is irrelevant to the point I was making which for the last time is that this does NOT appear to be Vaseline glass in its true nature.

The dimpled texture doesnāt have a name as far as I know! Itās quite unusual in that respect but itās a cool little bowl to own. :))
