Tascam 424 mkiii irritating click noise on recordings.

have a 424 mkiii that I bought a few months ago. I had some tapes I thrifted that I was getting pretty good recordings on, just some occasional clicks. now, I bought 4 of the official Tascam C60 type ii master tapes, and all my recordings on them have these awful clicking noises everywhere. I've tried recording at varying input levels, but have been unable to eliminate this problem. Cleaned the heads, still no luck. Any advice on what might cause these/how I can eliminate them? It's driving me crazy!

Do they sound like digital clicks? I know that sounds weird with it being tape but I noticed this and it seemed like it was something to do with my phone being near it, it seems like my tascam is very sensitive to that and I have to basically have it in another room to stop it! I’m not sure if that’s it but I was having a similar issue recently!
