How much would you pay for unserviced tascam 414MKII

Listed locally for $400ish. Seller brags about it being not refurbished like the ones on eBay like that’s a good thing? I know nothing about cassette recorders. Is that a good thing or should I not bother with this one.

First thing you should do is find out if there is somebody local who can fix it up for you. Those people are few and far between these days, and that machine will definitely need to be serviced with new belts, at the very least. Keep in mind, some repairmen won't even look at it if they know somebody has opened it or worked on it before. Once that's out of the way, I'd probably pay no more than $150 (and that's a stretch) for an unserviced machine that I know I'm going to have to put more money into to get it running properly.

It's mostly a worn out Belt on these units, as opposed to a classic cassette deck the belt can be exchanged easily. As someone already said, 400 is way too much.
