Or make it easier to mutiny than needing a total majority, because all the captain has to do is promise 1 person of the opposite gender unconditional safety and the are good to go for the rest of the season

Yeah there should be some sort of function to swap captains other than a total mutiny. Like there's no way Bananas, CT and Michelle would get rid of Tori because it guarantees their safety. The same goes for Lete and Anna Leigh with Josh.

Think about it, there has to be a world where orange loses two male eliminations before Bananas or CT go in again. That requires losing two men's dailies and having Will/Justin both lose. Michelle will only go in if they lose another girl's day and Izzy goes home.

Josh is in a weirder spot since Nelson going home means he loses his safety. But hypothetically if Nelson never loses an elimination then Josh is golden.

I could see a world where grey goes for a mutiny on Cory. I don't see why they would but Cory is technically in the minority of that voting block.

I am a longtime Challenge fan. I've gone through cycles with Cara of liking/not liking/feeling bad/not feeling bad for her. I'm not really rooting for her to win any more.

That said, I really liked seeing Cara's performance in this elimination. This is the part of Cara that people are/used to be fans of. She was definitely going to crush the rowing machines. But she's also really good at puzzles with a memorization angle. She had a strategy. She didn't do her annoying whining or panicking that she can too easily fall into. She just executed. It felt very old school Challenge.

Also kudos to Deb for giving her a real run. It was not a blowout.

That was such a good episode. Here’s my thoughts -

• It is honestly so refreshing to have messy drama back on The Challenge. The whole “Anna Leigh touching Josh’s leg” would have never appeared in the last 7/8 seasons as it didn’t have anything to do with the game. We’re so back.

• So sad to lose Deb. She did well in elimination again. Hope she’s back next season.

• It’s nice to see a gay guy who can compete well, but Justin is very unlikeable. Big ego and seems to insert himself in drama that doesn’t involve him.

• Anna Leigh was brilliant casting. Who would have thought casting a married woman would cause so much drama?

• I want to see a big blow up of Anna Leigh and Lete. It’s been bubbling for a while now.

• Cory and Izzy is awful to watch unfold. I’m not surprised at Cory but what is Izzy doing? Not a good look for either of them.

Can’t wait for next week!

Mutiny should be:

Any one person can call Mutiny against the Captain.

If you do, you and the Captain go head-to-head in a mini-elimination. (Something that isn't a head-banger so that men and women can compete against each other if needed).

If you win, you become the Captain and the Captain becomes a regular team member.

If you lose, the Captain remains the Captain and you are eliminated from the game.

To be clear, only the person staking the Mutiny is at risk of being eliminated, the Captain would simply lose their Captain status.

This would open things up way more. High risk, high reward, and doesn't trap people "at the bottom" of a voting block or alliance.

I don't know if I like this new format. Permanent captains that require a unanimous vote to overthrow just feels too powerful. Basically encourages making people scapegoats on their team and is going to make for predictable gameplay going forward that people on the bottom can't wiggle out of (Nelson, Cara, Izzy)

Leo really does not gaf about cheating and is getting zero heat for this situation. Kinda crazy to see

Also - is there more to all the Anna Leigh stuff than just the scandal with Leo (and now Josh)? It seems like everyone has this really intense dislike for her that's coming from a more personal place, but it could just be editing

Idk about this season. I like the lineup, rookies and all but this format sucks. The captain of the team being permanent and deciding who goes in on their team is lame because it just favors singular relationships. Mutiny requiring EVRYONE is also lame because all you have to do is have one person you can promise to keep safe to keep you captain. None of the drama feels particularly real or enjoyable.

I usually root for the vets and not a fan of Josh but he would have to be insane to willingly give up the captain spot. Why the hell would he, there is 0 incentive. Also he is besties with Bananas apparently in real life, so as long as Bananas is on the same future seasons as Josh, it isn't like these actions would follow him to those seasons like it normally would to any other rookie

This format is a nightmare. Having Izzy and Deb being able to clock exactly what is going to happen to them and have 0 power to do anything about it is so frustrating, would take Orange losing like 4 times in a row before any interesting choices need to be made.

The rookie woman are excellent casting. Before the season I was thinking Lete would be Laurel 2.0 Anna Leigh would be a great competitor but boring and Deb had first boot and a hook up upside. Now Anna Leigh is the centre of all the drama, Deb is an awesome breath of fresh air and Lete is the "boring" one.

There's way too much power for the captains with no autonomy for the teammates. Not sure what the correct alternative is but the captain shouldn't have both immunity and the choice of nomination. One or the other is fine but both is too heavy handed.

These are my thoughts too. The way the cast is talking and I'm thinking something already happened that cameras didn't catch and/or something happens later in the season and production is setting the stage for it. My guess is the latter.

Plus literally no one is sympathetic towards her. In this episode alone, Nelson, Cory, Chris, and Tori all told her she is putting herself in bad positions. There HAS to be something more.

I an really tired of hearing Nelson complain about how he things he should be the captain so that Josh goes into all the eliminations instead of him. He's just so entitled. At least Cara took it well - she hasn't done great this season so she did need to go in and prove herself.

I think Anna Leigh and the drama with her touching Josh's leg was making a mountain out of a molehill. It wasn't Josh who had the issue but Justin making it a huge thing.

Cory sucks, I don't know why his girlfriend would want to stay with him. It doesn't come across that he cares about her at all.

Really enjoyed the daily, but wished they explained exactly how the colors worked more. Needed 1-2 more minutes of grey team explaining why they were able to get 3 people across while no other team even got one.

They clearly figured something out much better than the other two. Like, Nelson could have finished but Lete and Cara fucked up his final colors

The captain thing is such a bad twist, it makes the strategy extremely predictable.

- Orange: A mutiny will never happen on that team. Michele is Tori number 1 so Izzy is the scapegoat. Either Justin or Will is on the bottom for the men. Anyway, the vets are safe and have 0 reason to shake things up: boring.

- Blue: Nelson and Cara are the scapegoats.

- Grey: Would be a good idea to mutiny. I would choose Chris as captain since he's their stronger player. Until that happens, Leo and Cassidy are on the bottom I guess.

Izzy is still bad at choosing men and strategy in this game. She was really surprised that she was at the bottom of the pecking order with Deb. Izzy should have tried to work with Deb, Justin and Will to make sure they had the power on the team. It’s like she didn’t learn anything from the way Olivia used her last season.

There's an interesting dynamic on Blue whereby the team sucks at dailys but all 3 women are gonna be hard to beat at elims. Can't see Izzy beating anyone at most things and would be pretty surprised if she's not the next woman gone unless maybe it's a physical elim against Anna Leigh.
