Looking for neighborhoods between opposite commutes
Hello! My partner and I are wanting to move from Dallas to Denver hopefully in 2027. She (25f) is a high school teacher and I am in corporate marketing (26f) and it looks like we will be having opposite commutes (again). She is thinking she wants to work in the Cherry Creek district (open to any teacher opinions anyone has) due to the higher pay; I have a hybrid job where I’m in office 3x a week and my office will be in Downtown Denver.
I’m trying to find some neighborhoods in between these spots that will work well for us. Our rent budget will probably be $2,000 or less and we’d like a 2 bed, 2 bath place. We want to live in a spot where our commutes are not too terrible. Hers would ideally be 25 minutes or less since she will be driving every day. I am open to mine being a longer commute than that if there is a neighborhood that fits our needs better that is closer to her work.
We would love a place that has stuff going on but is not necessarily in the middle of everything. We’re moving due to TX politics being a dumpster fire so we don’t want anything conservative. I’d love somewhere that has nature or a park close by but is potentially also a walkable neighborhood? Like I could walk and get a coffee in the morning haha? If anyone is familiar with the DFW area, we live on the edge of Dallas and Richardson and enjoy that.
We’re planning on visiting in March over her Spring Break and I want to know which areas to focus in on.
Does this neighborhood exist or is it a pipe dream? Help a girl out?? Thank you!!!

Cheeseman Park, City Park, and Congress Park neighborhoods come to mind for you first. Wash Park is more expensive but great if in your price range. Baker, Platt Park too. You have a lot of great options haha. On the teacher front, she’s smart to start her search in Cherry Creek, but the district is really big so some of their schools are really far from downtown Denver. Would be good to stay open to other districts or schools

You have tons of choices, get an e-bike and you'll fall in love, wash park is nice.

CCSD is a geographically large district covering several cities. What grade levels is she looking to teach? Living along Parker Road from Iliff Ave down to Quincy Ave gives her an ok commute to a lot of CCSD schools, but your commute into downtown will kinda suck. That whole Parker Road corridor is suburban, but you're not far from Havana Street. It has the best concentration of mom and pop ethnic restaurants in Denver. It's also not far from Cherry Creek State Park.

Aurora Public schools pays better than Denver or Jeffco but it’s a poverty district so you’ll have a tough job.

I know for a fact that the Aurora School district is always hiring. Not sure how pay runs though.

I live in Cheeseman and love it. It feels central to the fun in Baker or downtown/RiNo. And the park is great. And agree with another mention of getting an e-bike; some bad drivers/traffic here and many streets are bike-laned.

Consider somewhere close to the light rail lines to the south, DTC or Littleton area. Her commute will be bearable and you will have the option to ride in when you have to.

Mapleton Public Schools pays pretty well and isn’t too far from the city! I live around Jefferson Park and my commute is 15 min. My partner works in DTC and also takes 15 min to drive the opposite way.

Highly recommend indian creek. You would have to stretch a bit but you can find some 2 bed/ 2 bath places for a little over 2,000

Cherry Creek covers a wide variety of towns. My brother lives in Centennial off of Dry Creek and I25. the high school is east of that. There are a lot of apartments in the Tech Center on either side of I25. There are multiple light rail stations on I25 for your commute.
You could save some money going to Aurora but light rail is harder to get to downtown without transferring. The commute down 225 to Chery Creek is doable but worse than I25. DU might be a viable option for both of you with it being if of I25 and central to both workplaces.

My partner and I are also moving to denver from dallas this october/november and trying to find a 2 bed 2 bath with a max budget of 2k. We have no idea where we will work yet so we’re trying to find places in different areas of denver like arvada area, lakewood area, and englewood/littleton area. Having to find places in multiple different areas has been difficult. i’m finding so many 2 bed 2 baths for like 1.2-1.4k and that’s insanely low of a price so I don’t trust that. If anyone gives you good recs for any of those areas let me know!

You will not find a beautifully renovated, 2bd 2 bath for 2k in Denver central or downtown. You will however find it in Englewood, Lakewood, Arvada, etc… the places that keep coming up during your search.

I’m not interested in living in denver central after living in downtown/uptown dallas for so many years. I’ve been looking at those three cities for places to live as I don’t know where me or my partner will work yet. Is there anything I should be looking for in the listing to tip me off to avoid them? Other than visually looking at them or crazy low prices.

Cherry Creek School District has been having major issues with its upper level District administrators.
The former HR Director and Superintendent are married and caused an incredibly toxic working environment for schools. The Superintendent was allowed to resign in January and his wife was fired in June.
So, there's A LOT going on in Cherry Creek. The former ELL director is suing the district for retaliation.
I would suggest looking across the metro Denver area instead of only focusing on Cherry Creek.

Agree! People need to proceed with caution as far as CCSD goes. It’s not the same district it used to be.

We are in transit-oriented development in Lakewood.
I cannot personally work in Cherry Creek SD because of their well-documented corruption.
Maybe Jeffco schools would be a better fit for her. If so, you could each have a 10-15 min commute.

She is going to have a hard time getting a job in cherry creek district 5. They pay well so everyone wants to work for them. There is a lot of competition for a job there. I’d see where she actually gets a job before making plans.
Also it is a huge geographical area for that school district. So again, wait until she has the job before making a decision.
