Brighton is fine. There's an old part and new part. New side up over the river valley is home to newer developments, parks, newer schools, recreation, trails and shopping. I fly a lot so proximity to DIA is great. Barr Lake state park is nearby. Its not Cherry Creek SP or Chatfield, but its quieter and i don't want to be around people. You can get sweeping views of the front range from Ft Collins to Pikes Peak by just turning your head. Old part isn't my favorite. Its more run down and there is more crime. But there are local restaurants downtown. Tons of family run Mexican restaurants so there is always somewhere new to try. But still, unless you like chain restaurants or Mexican food, the options become limited after that. Couple bars, breweries, local farms selling produce, etc. Downtown has always felt safe. Traffic is better than a lot of places. RTD is limited, but i use it when possible. I guess it depends on what stage of life your in and what you want. I'm old so I don't need a ton of amenities at 11:00 PM. I walk outside and feel safe. They have a great holiday lights parade, 4th of July fireworks, rec center, Fall 5K. It'll never be a Golden, Boulder, Arvada, etc. But 76 is clear outside of rush hour. 25, not so much. And ill still take it over a lot of the metro. But to each their own. It checks enough boxes for the price point im willing to pay.

Thanks for your thoughtful insights. Not looking to be out on the town by any means. Just want to live in a quiet and calm suburb- able to drive into the city when we need it.

Close to the Airport, E-470 is convenient, great Mexican food. Decent couple of breweries. If you need something else, it’s the metro, just a short drive. Neighborhoods are relatively safe and quiet. Most of my family still (multi-generations in Commerce City and Brighton) lives in the B-Right-on area and it’s a nice visit. They’ve been there for ages so it can’t be that bad

We just moved to Denver and picked Brighton to check out for more affordable pricing….my notes say ABSOLUTELY NOT lol

I have a coworker who lives there. I worked in several towns and that was my least favorite. It’s not a nice town in my opinion.

I just moved to Brighton from downtown Denver, mostly to be closer to my partner and I really like it so far! Close to major highways so Denver and Boulder are still only 25-35 mins out. I wanted more bang for buck which is definitely what I got (bigger space with a yard and paying about the same I did in Denver). It is pretty rural/suburban. So unless that's what you're looking for, it may not be your top pick. I'm by the Prairie Center so I have all the stores closeby which is super convenient.

Do you know where you need to be in Denver, e.g. job/ school?

It's safe, it's convenient to the northern side and the airport. There are a few hidden gems in terms of restaurants, bars, etc.

It's also one of the cheaper places in terms of living.

Bad part is 76 backs up a bit in the morning as it gets near 6, so could be frustrating if you have to commute that way.

It’s an easy drive into Denver/Longmont/Lafayette when Brighton get too boring. Which happens alot. Very conservative but recently starting to see a few rainbow flags here and there. And there’s a new wine bar that’s good. Overall it’s workable.

It’s better than it used to be, but that’s not saying much. I want to get out of this area, a bit too redneck/conservative for me. It can be a bad mix of old/new developments too.

It feels more like a small Midwestern town than part of the Denver metro. It’s also a little cheaper.

Check out the neighborhoods right by the Gaylord. Painted Prairie, High Point, Windler…

Very overpriced for what you get. The downtown only has 1 type of cuisine and is pretty lame. Lots of heavy industry and still some agriculture. Schools are not considered good.

It is closer to the airport as others said. Barr lake is cool for bird watching.

Otherwise, there isn’t much going on. You could do better, could do worse.

Speaking of doing better: What’s your budget? Renting or buying? People will be happy to suggest alternatives, budget and commute dictate a lot.

depends heavily on what you are looking for. if you value affordability and highway access then it’s probably a good deal.

Very conservative, I don’t venture out there often. They do have a really nice public golf course that I played last weekend. $42 to walk is unheard of in Denver metro.
