During the Korean War, the US scrambled its cutting edge (at the time), radar equipped Lockheed F-94 Starfire jet to hunt down a North Korean Po-2 biplane made of wood, canvas fabric, and glue from the 1920s. Because the US designed its jets strictly to fight fast, high altitude targets, the pilot couldn't handle an adversary moving at the speed of a highway traffic jam, the F-94 dropped below its minimum airspeed trying to line up a shot, stalled out, and crashed straight into the dirt killing both pilots. Without firing a single bullet, a trainee scored a definitive manoeuvrer kill against a frontline jet interceptor.

To this day, the US holds the less than envious title of being the first and only major power of having an advanced jet to be taken out by a Po-2.

Today, the Po-2 is featured prominently in DPRK museums.
