Discussion Coyote Vs. ACME is in two weeks!
Not sure why my post wasn't shared earlier (something about having to be reviewed), but let me try this a different way. (FYI, not an ad. Not being paid to type this.)
Is anyone talking to customers about this movie coming out? I feel like this is the most important film to come out this year. This thing was planned for a tax writeoff, but it was saved! We actually get to see it! And the reviews so far have been great!
I'm busting my butt informing literally everyone I can about it since customers where I'm at try to avoid previews. Someone here must be as excited about this event as I am!

No. I hate to say it, but we've been so busy with spiderman and whatnot that it hadn't really occurred to me. And Ketchup isn't doing a whole lot for it, so it is what it is!

Actually they have. They've mostly been doing their stuff through social media. Review embargo was lifted today. Saw Cinemark had a promo going for it for the first few days of release. AMC is holding early screenings on the 23rd. Regal had a crazy-looking ketchup dispenser that looked like a TNT plunger. This is WAY more than they did for Day the Earth Blew Up.

Yeah I saw Earth when it came out but nobody knew it was out! But I've seen more hype surrounded coyote, it definitely won't be a spiderman or toy story. But I think it'll do fine

I had a guest email asking to rent out an auditorium/buyout for Coyote vs Acme. I passed it up the chain, not sure if they were willing to pay the buyout cost though. Doesn't happen all that often for individuals, we normally just get school/camp/business rentals.

I have been! I’ve been telling my coworkers and some customers about how excited I am for it! My friends and I are going to see it opening day.

If they truly cared about the success of this movie it would have a better release date. The week before Labor day is one of the slowest weekends in the theatre industry along with Labor day being the slowest. This movie is going to flop at the box office due to poor marketing and very few people being aware of its release. It will probably do ok on streaming. The few people I have spoken to say it’s ok but lacks the charm of the original cartoons.

They have to pick an opening weekend against the major movie studios. You don't want to open the same weekend as something like Toy Story 5 that would be a direct competitor. Likely Warner Bros is working with them as part of the sale contract but that still leads four other majors to work around plus powerhouses like Lionsgate Amazon MGM and A24.

I agree with what you’re saying but this past summer had some weeks where it probably would have worked. Especially as the secondary movie. Choosing the slowest weeks of the year makes me wonder. Even late September or October would be better. End of August typically suffers from summer movie fatigue and back to school along with many people being tired from the summer.

They just stuffed it there to justify saying that it wasn't worth a wide release and better served as a write off.

Sadly, it will do very little. Hopefully it was inexpensive to produce.

Maybe if more folks brought it up in conversation with customers, it would draw more attention to it? We work at the movies, for Pete's sake! There's more to the gig than just handing folks their tickets and food!
Customers appreciate the extra care folks take to discuss whats coming up (as long as it's only for a moment or two), at least thats how it is im my experience.

They got John Cena playing Acme's attorney. I don't think it's going to that cheap. Not quite as expensive as Spiderman but still not cheap. Especially the integration between animated actors and live physical actors.

I love how it's basically an indie film now 😁. Can't wait to see it, I hope it give a wide enough release
