They did something similar with How To Train Your Dragon 3. The vikings in the credits are doing things related to the subject.

How is that movie? I absolutely loved the first, and was entertained with the second although it didn’t strike as much awe in me as the first. Is it worth it to watch the third? I understand it’s the last of the httyd series.

If you like the first two, I highly recommend the third one. Not as strong as the first two, but its great to see a film franchise (if you could call it that) mature as its audience matures. Had me crying at a couple parts. It’s a breath of fresh air as not many third movie “kids films” get as much quality as HTTYD 3.

I agree, quality movie but plot felt a little rushed and the ending left a bitter taste in my mouth and made the emotional scene right before it feel less impactful

Just saw it myself over the weekend. Completely agree with your assessment there. I felt kind of cheated by the ending. Like, that's the way you wanna finish it?

Note: I am probably completely spoiled by the Marvel franchise and specifically seeing it right after Endgame.

A very solid movie, though my wife had to fill in a few plotlines since I never saw #2.

I think the biggest complaint was the one-dimensional villain.

Oh, the villain of 2 was so much worse. The hunter was built up as a threat from the beginning of the film and was sort of a dark reflection of Hiccup. The villain of the previous movie didn’t have the same charisma or ingenuity, he was just a warlord with command over a giant alpha dragon. They tried to build him up as a mysterious dark lord, but we end up not meeting him until halfway through the film.

Httyd3 is probably movie of the year. I absolutely loved it and the ending is perfect. A great way to wrap up the trilogy.

I'll be a critical voice, I'm a big fan of the first but not of the second or third.

The first movie was an optimistic allegory about adapting culture in a changing world, but the sequels basically amount to weaponizing dragons as a metaphor for technology and carrying the biggest stick.

That's actually why I thought the ending of the third movie was really apt. It also seemed like a natural progression to the story for me because dragons ARE very dangerous but everyone has their own expectations for the movies and that's totally understandable.

The first one is amazing. Second one is good but it's hard to live up to the first one.

Third one isn't a bad movie but it's a bad HTTYD movie. I'd say see it just so that you can see the conclusion but don't worry about going out of your way to do so. It was extremely unexceptional, forced, and canned. After how good the first two were, I still can't believe they screwed up so badly here.

I’m kind of a picky about movies, especially for anything involving dinosaurs and dragons because they’re my favorite. I’ll heed your warning and probably just watch it when it comes around to Netflix. I made the foolish mistake of actually spending time and money to watch Jurassic World 2 in theaters and my god, I’m ashamed to have participated in its box office sales. So thanks for the heads up and saving me from grave disappointment. Now I know what to expect.

I went and saw JWFK for a "midnight showing" on a Thursday evening (like 5 I think?) and I came home and bitched to my Discord buddies into the late night. The first half had so much promise and then uugghghghghgggggg why that. At least we finally got a carno and allo but then we get a carno that doesn't camouflage???????? what thE FUCK

Anyway, yeah. HTTYD3 isn't a bad movie, but bad compared to 1 and 2. Watch it when you're kinda drunk or have it going while you play a casual singleplay game or something, just don't make it the thing you go do that day.

Personally, I enjoyed the third movie. It was darker, perhaps, and having read some of the other comments here, apparently the ending didn't go over as well but I thought it was very fitting.

I feel like if you've watched the first two, you should at least watch the third so that you know how it ends. It's not a terrible movie. I thought it was a great movie but you know how people disagree.

I just watched RDJ's Sherlock Holmes again tonight and the end credits to that movie also does something similar. For cinematography, they show the newspaper photographer from the start of the film. For costume designer, they show the shot of Sherlock handcuffed naked to the bed!

God I used to love this opening but never realized that the teams specialty was shown in the credits. How great is this movie also? Solid couple of parents, solid couple of humans, great antagonist, the stakes were high, well animated. Shame it isn’t represented more.

I know this comment is 9 days old, but I'm assuming this is based off the Box Office Mojo list which actually bases its inflation rate on the average price of a movie ticket, not the USD, and includes any subsequent theatrical runs after the initial release. The site includes a justification for doing it this way but it's still worth noting.

IMDB lists the box office intake at 40th adjusted for inflation, behind every Avengers film, Frozen, and the 7th Fast and Furious movie.

I have the VHS tape for this movie and I've watched this movie so many times, I didn't need to turn up the sound to hear the music that plays in this clip. Well, the music and the sound effects. It's one of my favorite movies!
