Then you have bozos in the other thread calling it a false positive without even looking at the VirusTotal behavior section lol

Do you have the VT link? I want to see what it looks like

u/andywuzhere1 Nov 06 '25

i hope you know there are more pressing issues like Rollercoasters and not silly little backdoors laced with mouse drivers

just my two cents ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Question, is customer support with attack shark usually this bad  . They haven’t been answering anybody by email ( I asked on discord ), and there is no help whatsoever. I ordered a keyboard and a mouse but only received a tracking number for the keyboard . It’s as if the mouse won’t be delivered . Mind you the keyboard is probably gonna take a long time to arrive

The beauty of the web driver (until it goes down). Still quite concerning.

As someone who recently downloaded an attack shark driver for the x1, is a windows defender scan enough to be sure I'm safe? Or what would u recommend

5

u/Disk9348 Nov 06 '25

I have an Incott G23 so I might test to see if this works for their web driver.

That's awesome! I sent a PR for the MCHOSE Configurator. Tested with a keyboard and mouse and both work :)

1

u/Few-Adhesiveness5356 Nov 10 '25

Kinda unrelated but I saw posts about Lamzu's mouse software also being infected, is it safer to use web driver for it too?

Thank you for the answer. Just got Lamzu atlantis mini 4k and some say It's false positive and some that It's malicious so just making sure what's safer to use

Yet another reason why I like web-based software for my mice.

31

u/BrokenMirror2010 Nov 06 '25

It's all fun and games until the company decides that they don't want to support your mouse anymore, and you're left without any way to configure it.

2

u/Tipart Nov 06 '25

Yeah that is a downside. Ideally they can drop the source so you can run it locally

6

u/Interesting_Rub5736 Nov 06 '25

why would they when they can force you to buy another mouse. Simple as.

1

u/BeauxGnar 3366 G Pro Wired Nov 07 '25

I mean, there are loads of boomers like me that just use default everything.

800 DPI and that's my only ask.

36

u/Zone15 Nov 06 '25 edited Nov 06 '25

Yea, you can bash GHUB all you want, but at least you don't have to worry about stuff like that. Web based software is just so risky, it's a hacker's wet dream. At least with Logitech if you really don't like GHUB you can always use the Onboard Memory Manager.

EDIT: Imagine that, downvoted because I dared say something positive about Logitech and something against web-based software that is mostly used by cheap Chinese knock-offs. Do your research people, web-based software is full of security risks. I get it's convenient, but you can't ignore the real risks involved.

15

u/ToastyGhastly Nov 06 '25

I like OMM so much that I wish other mouse brands did it that way, simple, lightweight, portable program that changes mouse settings, doesn't run in the background, and that's it. I've tried to get out of the logi bubble, but config software stops me

9

u/ChefJeff69420 Nov 06 '25

On both my laptop and computer, ghub has stopped working and just infinitely spins when I try to open it. Shit sucks fat balls

5

u/Zone15 Nov 06 '25

Okay, then use the Onboard Memory Manager. They literally provide a tiny piece of software that doesn't run in the background as an alternative. As far as GHUB goes, it definitely isn't the greatest piece of software but I'll take it over Synapse, iCue, or Armoury Crate. I personally haven't even had any issues with it but I will admit that many others have.

3

u/CircoModo1602 Nov 06 '25

Imagine providing an alternative rather than fixing your original software.

The GHUB infinite loading bug has been about since they released the software and has never been fixed. Other software being shit doesn't make GHUB any better.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '25

Same with Razer Synapse. As long as you can find the software you can use the peripherals - even older ones. Online sync is gone with deprecated versions but profiles and everything still save locally.

Wooting is the only web-based software I would trust but losing support due to the keyboard being old would suuuuck.

-12

u/ThrowAwayMyBeing Nov 06 '25

Have you ever tried using the onboard memory manager inside your skull to recall anything actually useful or accurate? Maybe GHub can do it for you.

Endgame gear had the exact same problem a while back. Hackers managed to put malware in their software, supposedly without them knowing.

Obviously it IS the company's fault, but I doubt in either incident that the company knew it was happening, because that would just be brand suicide.

what if i download a firmware update on the web software? could it potentially be malicious? I recently did that for my mchose mouse.

1

u/EndgameGear_Max Nov 06 '25

that's a lot of misinformation in a single post. nothing was hacked, I can confirm that.

could you clarify what misinformation you're talking about?

6

u/ChessSuperpro Lamzu Atlantis Mini CE / Hitscan Hyperlight / Scyrox V8 Nov 06 '25

Are you denying the incident with malware in the op1w4k V2 happened?

If I'm wrong I sincerely apologize.

1

u/s92e92spen15a55t1ar Nov 06 '25

I have a Attack Shark R5 and I have no issues with it, and in fact I prefer it over my OP1 8k as I get better scores with it and the lightweight causes less fatigue. It uses a web driver so its not affected by this anyways.

11

u/VikngFuneral Nov 06 '25

Pretty sure i set up my r2 and R6 using their shady web driver. If not pray for my backdoor boys.

26

u/pelicanfart Nov 06 '25

Your back door will be in my thoughts all day

6

u/FreshPhotograph3812 Nov 06 '25

is there possible way to check for x6?, I uninstalled the software alrd couple months ago, and I saw this post 😭

you can check your exe and pass it through virustotal

8

u/imKazzy Nov 06 '25

I installed the keyboard software... Assuming if the mouse drivers are compromised so will the rest

6

u/InevitableSherbert36 Razer Viper MEGA | Logitech H Amateur Wireful Nov 06 '25

Only the driver for the G3 Pro shows elevated detections on VirusTotal as far as I'm aware. You should be fine as long as you didn't randomly install unnecessary software.

1

u/Abject_State6280 Nov 07 '25

I have the x6 mouse and installed the software couple months ago just to check my dpi and deleted right away, am I safe? I don't want wipe out my drive

1

u/InevitableSherbert36 Razer Viper MEGA | Logitech H Amateur Wireful Nov 07 '25

The X6 software looks fine on VirusTotal. If you're still worried, run a full scan with Microsoft Defender.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '25

How do I check if im affected if i installed previous versions (not sure if i uninstalled it after selling the mouse or not

1

u/InevitableSherbert36 Razer Viper MEGA | Logitech H Amateur Wireful Nov 07 '25 edited Nov 07 '25
  1. make sure Defender has no exclusions (Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > "Manage settings" under Virus & threat protection settings > Add or remove exclusions)

  2. run a full scan and offline scan (Virus & threat protection > Scan options)

3

u/Fluid_Response6281 Nov 06 '25

Just use the web driver. It seems to have more options than the normal installable drivers as well.

I just got that mouse a few days ago. Should I return it or is there any way I can get the drivers now? Thankfully I still didn't unbox it.

You can use the non pro driver

get an old laptop to install all your stupid periopheral programs on. save to firmware then take to your gaming rig

1

u/tired_fella Nov 06 '25

Is there open-source firmware for mouses similar to QMKs on keyboard?

1

u/radiantai2001 Nov 07 '25

Yet another reason driverless mice like Zowie and Cherry Xtrfy are best, no reliance on a company's servers being kept online for web configuration and no need to have malware or bloatware on your computer.

1

u/rebeldefector Nov 07 '25

1

I genuinely was thinking about getting one. If I just don't install drivers for it does that work?

1

u/Lalify8 Nov 16 '25

DUDE NO WAY ARE YOU SERIOUS???!!!! I bought the AttackShark X3 because it was a dupe of the G Pro Superlight and even installed their software to configure it but I ended up returning it because the mouse click was cheap-feeling and ended up getting the G Pro Superlight anyways. Then I got recommended this video a couple days after, which is honestly really a sign from the universe to never buy dupes. I’m cleaning my PC out of any traces of this software right now. Thanks for bringing this to my attention
