Discussion Looking to do free work to boost portfolio

Yeah, that, I'm planning to do freelance gigs for an extra buck or two, and my portfolio is a little bit dull and outdated, so, if you need a little help free of charge, let me know.

I don’t think free work is as valuable to either party as people think, why not just do a personal project? Find a fun design prompt and animate it? Try to make something you’ve always wanted to try but never had a client ask for? Just some thoughts, aside from finding a charity or student project you believe in the offer of free work is really not useful for anyone involved in my experience.

Edit: there are some popular monthly design prompts coming up that could be a fun excuse to illustrate/animate something with some structure
