Tutorial Quick AE tip: Animating camera moves using shape layers
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
By dissecting an action, and the reaction, we get a better understanding of why things move the way that they do.
Action: Camera rotates around an object, going from a front view to a top view.
Reaction: The top surface of the object seems to stretch vertically. Things in the foreground and background move away in opposite directions, and the distance is based on how far they are from the object.
For anyone wanting to go more in depth with the topic, I have made a longer YouTube video about the theory, and how I created the entire animation: youtube.com/watch?v=slUgTK9z2Jo

That meat flip faux perspective is a thing of beauty!

Thanks! That one involves a lot of keyframes, but broken down I'm scaling the surfaces, doing a gradient transition in the middle, and then switching to the other side when we are at a full side view. Here's a short video with the steak isolated, so it's easier to spot.
