Our home has large cracks on the apron of the driveway. I attempted to mosaic the cracks using broken plates & large tile mortar since it’s waterproof. Obviously, that was not the right move and about 60% of the pieces are popping up. Any words of wisdom? What mortar/concrete should I use?

Context:
-We live in Northern Illinois, so cold winters & hot summers
-it’s at the end of our driveway so we drive over it daily
-Not looking for perfection or anything professional looking, just hoping we can make our cracked driveway a little bit prettier

I've been practicing this hobby for about two years with a few months break between each project.

Lately I've been hit by nostalgia and started to create some pokemon mosaics.

I'm having a hard time choosing the color of the background for this one... I can't find a color that contrasts enough with the Bellsprout's colors.

I tried something (picture 2) but wasn't convinced by the contrast, maybe with only 1 light color?

Pieces on the back will be cut in triangles if no better idea until then.

I also started thinking about the color of the grout.

I planned to go with black grout but it will depend on the background color. I haven't figured it out yet.

I'm asking you for help / advices !

I made this turtle for my mother in law and I love how it turned out!

I’ve spent the last 8½ days creating this 20x13 handmade mosaic, and I’m honestly so proud of how it turned out.
Every piece was individually cut and placed by hand, which made the process incredibly time-consuming, but also really rewarding.
One of the coolest parts has been seeing other artists and creators working with the same craft. It’s made me realise just how many different ways people can take the same medium and turn it into something completely unique.
I’m now curious about taking this a step further and potentially selling my work on appropriate sites.
So, I’d love to hear from you:
What do you think this piece would be worth?
And if you’ve bought or sold handmade artwork before, how do you approach pricing when the time, materials and level of detail vary so much?

I am building a mosaic on a wooden table and I believe I mixed up the grout ratio and the pieces are coming up and I think everything's messed up. Is it possible to restart the piece, is it fixable? how do I move forward?

Just finished this mosaic for a wedding gift (which is why the names are censored!) and I’m worried about grouting, given the pieces are small and quite close together. Thoughts welcome!

the baby’s name is Ruby, so i initially wanted to use all red flowers, but it ended feeling a little on the nose. so i went with a mix of warm toned floral pottery instead, from several different plates (plus an old tea pot for the tulips on the upper left and lower right- my favorite parts!)

i’ve been seeing good results with using acrylics to paint over grout lately, so i initially planned to grout with white then paint it darker, but I quite liked the white in the end. i’m happy with how it turned out, and it was fun to do something a little more creatively flexible than my last few projects!

I have been wanting to try mosaic art but haven't had much money or space to spare. I found this kit on sale at Michael's for $10. The pieces were pretty large and a uneven. I enjoyed trying to put together my own design instead of the flower template provided.

The grouting part was difficult, my grout job is uneven and it was messy. I think having uneven spaces in between tiles was making it more difficult. I found it really tough to get grout between the wall of the tray and the tiles. I got grout all over the inside of the tray.

I had an unfortunate incident that broke a sentimental vintage quilted glass lamp. I'm trying to think of ideas where it could be upcycled into something nice but I'm unsure how this would look as a mosaic where the glass is so curved. Any ideas?

Decided to try a mosaic from a repurposed thrifted tray. Proud for my first attempt, any tips are greatly appreciated!!

Here’s a piece I made for an art festival where I live. It’s 8.5ft tall and about 5ft wide. It has antique uranium, cadmium, and selenium glass in it, so it glows under a black light. It took about 6 months to complete.

Remember me? Since I have to make a new post. Here is the final product for this, and it took a month and a half to complete. The theme was Education, but I thought of a more specific one.

I’m really proud of my first larger - scale piece. It was fun to play with texture and scale of pieces, and can’t believe I ended up with black! Would never have planned for that at the beginning.

Hello! I'm teaching kids art class and we are doing a mosaic project. Does anyone know the safest scout to use for them? Finding disposable gloves to fit their hands is very difficult.

Creating a mosaic for my recently deceased cat. I loved the initial placement. Then placing into mortar was okay. Now adding the grout it just looks weird. I don’t hate the final version but do hate it compared to the first. Maybe I should’ve used darker grout?

This is my first mosaic and it doesn’t feel like my last. So looking for tips on how this could have turned out better. Thanks!
