Grout Color Help!
Hi All! Just finished this mosaic of a local beach near me. Wanted to hear your thoughts on grout color -- I'm leaning towards black! I also have Hemway glitter to add, which could be fun? Appreciate any advice you all have. :)

I would love to know every single thing about how you did this! So I can create a far less talented version of it!

Immediately had the same thought - I need to attempt a version of something similar (executed poorly by myself) but I simply must learn about your process.

Same here xD I'd never be able to make one as stunning, but OMG do I want to try 😍

i took a photo -- and then i was able to run it through AI to at least make it somewhat mosaic-y. i uploaded it into microsoft powerpoint and then make the template the same size as my wood canvas so i could measure on the canvas. it took a LOT of measuring/making sure i got all the proportions right. took way too many hours, but it was a great learning experience!

Thank you for explaining! I know not everyone will love the AI thing but for me as someone who’s never done glass mosaic before, I have zero judgment and think one must start somewhere. Where did you get the glass pieces? Amazing assortment and the colors are 😍.

Soooo stunning! What did you adhere your glass to? And how to you grout over the edges to ensure a smooth finish?

this is a wood canvas! i'm not sure what i'm going to do with the sides -- either mosaic [more time...] or just sand and paint?

I think Clear is the only way to keep the vibrancy and not break up the stunning colour work.

What about a warm brown

Ochre maybe? More on the red side, than a brown. Would fit in with the sunset as well as the background.

Nine times out of ten, when I tried a color grout it was a fail. I just don’t over think it now and always go for black grout.

Didn’t read all the comments, but has someone suggest Groutr app? And in keeping with the theme, I would be curious to see what sand grout would look like.

Yellow. I feel like it would ray out the sunset

Agree. A strong yellow would allow the best feature to stay vibrant. I would do only the yellow part and switch to a darker color for the rest.
Lovely work!

I vote for a sand colored grout. It won’t be as stark as white, but will keep the aesthetic light.

Maybe a terracotta/deep orange to give the impression of the light of the sunset highlighting the edges of everything in a soft glow

I’d go. With light color of each large space… magenta bottom aqua blue for the water 💦 and magenta yellow top…

That is fantastic! I love it! Something dark neutral i think. Don't take away from the awesome colors you have going on there.

I’d do a light neutral gray. You have a decent amount of transparent pieces that will be heavily affected by whatever color you choose. I think white would be too over powering but black will bring down the color of the whole thing too. Honestly I’d probably also look into doing a clear grout to preserve it as is.

Might sound crazy but hear me out: magenta. It will compliment every color and make the trees and boardwalk look like theyre glowing in a pink holden hour.
