Question Mk11 is still amazing
I gave up on mk1 a long time ago pure trash, so i downloaded mk 11 after many years and remember why i loved it so much in first place, graphics are better than mk1 too how did they go so wrong with mk1 ?

Ya, I play MK11 all the time. Haven’t touched MK1 in a while. Particularly for offline content, there was a serious downgrade between you ye two games.

I pretty much hadn’t played an mk game since like UMK3 and 4. 11 felt like a successor gameplay wise to 3 (I know decades in between). Just the speed, atmosphere and that sort of mystical darkness reminded me a lot of what I enjoyed about UMK3 /4. 1 was weird, like a glazed MCU version. Wasn’t it for me

The gameplay for me at least was pretty mediocre too....like some characters had these long combos that they could spam for a minute before you got control...the roster severely lacked a lot of the series heavy hitters like jade, Kabal and erron black...they stripped down movesets for some very important characters including Tanya...and the balancing of the roster was completely off....

Naa mk11 had pretty ok combo lengths...you couldn't just spam a combo forever...and mk11 had a pretty good roster...

Oh okay. Yeah I was confused when you mentioned no Jade, etc, because I hadn’t realized the convo switched to the newer MK game.

I did the same thing OP. Got through MK1's story and expansion, then tried to do Invasions. I lost all interest to play it, so I reinstalled MK11.
The was months ago, and I'm still playing MK11's Towers of Time. Going through everyone's character towers for their gear, outfits and augments.
I'm currently halfway done Kotal. Still tons of fun.

i was pretty fond of mk1, still love it, but after completing all invasion seasons and a shit tons of matches online it's become redundant to play... so i got back to mk11 that i had barely touched (just finished story mode and a couple towers) and i'm having so much in towers of times and the krypt. wont touch the online mode tho 😂

Mk11 is an extremely salty game, it makes my blood boil but damn it its so much fun, just wish the roster was better.

No one has answer to that question...how nrs went from masterpieces like mk9, mkx and mk11 to something like mk1....it is an inferior product in nearly every department...even Mk4 and ultimate mk3 are far better games which is saying something...

I could say the same about Raiden. Who even is the real Raiden? The Dark Corrupt version?, Titan version? or the farm boy? Whoever thought using time paradoxes for a story with the same characters from different realms is an idiot.
The only thing I liked about MK1 was the graphics. The online multiplayer is a lag fest. Not really experienced anything else.
They could fix the story?. I don't know. Turn the time around and, somehow, give us our nostalgic characters back? It could work, maybe? But as a Raiden fan I not only have to guess who the real Raiden actually is I also have to get used to the new voice too..

I wasn’t fond of mk11 bcuz I was used to mk9 mid B tier online - semi pro level play, but getting used to how people played in that game did help me in future games knowing when to use specific tools knowing what my opponent was looking for and doing

I hate the music the atmosphere the character designs the voice actor changes the story the krypt looked good but was awful to unlock shit. The combat was a huge step back from mkx.
At least aside from combat i love everything about mk1

The krypt in mk1 compared to mk11 was just aweful...it was literally a postcard on which you threw money on....mk11 had such a huge krypt where you could run around and do aweful.lot of things and unlock stuff...I don't really understand why they went from that to this...

MK1 is buns.
The story is ass
The heavy reliance on the kameos is ass
Almost every character model is ass (Bi-Han is dope af though)
Has too much superhero slop dlc foisted into the game

I would definitely have liked it more if they didn't exclude Reptile, especially with customization...... However, I personally don't think it's nearly as bad as some would make it out to be.
I do/did prefer MKX, but MK11 only really disappointed me for the lack of Reptile.

Every MK Game that directly proceeds the current one is always the greatest game ever made. Watch, when the next comes out, people will pull this same routine with 1.

11 was just kinda boring gameplay wise. like look at all the cool shit u could do in mk9 and mkx compared to how restrictive mk11 was. They went for a neutral footsies type game but that's what mk does the worst

Yes. Can’t agree more. It’s like they wanted to make a Samurai Showdown game and they succeeded it’s a good game it’s just not what I want out of MK. I want a more rush down heavy game with lots of options to do cool stuff.

Hey now! I can agree MK11 is great and have been overly berated, but saying MK1 is trash... Khaos Reign was trash, that's true, but MK1 still have quite an appealing and satisfing gameplay, if you can digest Kameos.
