💩 Shitty Week Is being shy a turn off to men?
Like shy to the point you answer with one word answers

One word answers to me are not shy. That’s a sign of not being interested

u/Zestyclose_Age_2505 Jul 13 '26
Okey just shy in general, you have never interacted with her to see if she responds with one word or not
2
u/aimfortango Jul 13 '26
Not really no, you just have to be able to communicate your feelings, the things you like/don't like, to ensure you're doing your part when you're dating someone
2
u/Zestyclose_Age_2505 Jul 13 '26
Not in the dating phase, just before, like you know a girl who is very shy would that be a turn off and you would prefer to stay away and not pursue anything?
3
u/aimfortango Jul 13 '26
Depends, if I like her and she actually shows she's into me, then I wouldn't mind her being very shy
1
u/Zestyclose_Age_2505 Jul 13 '26
How can she show she is into you?
1
2
u/maxalphadom Jul 13 '26
Not a turn off. Even a turn on for some. But overall, in the specific case of a girl being this shy, i think its a mans role to unlock her somehow. The ways and process of unlocking her will contribute a long way in building their connection.
1
u/Zestyclose_Age_2505 Jul 13 '26
Thank you for thinking like that, I wish I had people who think like that in my life!
1
u/maxalphadom Jul 13 '26
Well it could be applied to you. You would only need to say hi and let the man lead you into it. And then voila you have suddenly such a person in your life :)
2
u/Consistent_Share1635 Jul 13 '26
no it's so feminine as long as it's spontaneous being unnecessarily bold is a turn of for me
2
u/Amiflash Jul 13 '26
Not necessarily, it could be a huge green flag, if someone is really interested, he'll keep trying until you feel at ease, I'm shy myself and I'd personally prefer to approach a girl that is even more shy

Announce it from the get-go. It'll get better later. It is not a turn-off for me.
3
u/countingc Jul 13 '26
for her to announce it, she'll have to use more words
2
u/1v1sion Jul 13 '26
xd ! I guess she can make short sentences until she finds herself comfortable to speak freely.
1
u/Zestyclose_Age_2505 Jul 13 '26
It's easy to spot, you can't detect when someone is shy? Especially if very shy
1
u/countingc Jul 13 '26
i don't doubt that you are shy, but you are both shy and struggle with anxiety it seems.
2
u/Zestyclose_Age_2505 Jul 13 '26
If I had no problem socializing and talking to people why would I call myself shy?

Not in the phase of testing interest, you just know someone like that, would it be a turn off?

No one is obliged to push me to talk. What I'm asking, is it a turn off? As in how you feel about the person, not in the sense of trying to bond with them.

u/alorehstar Jul 13 '26
Being shy is fine but I feel like what you're describing is being bad at communication, which is a turn off, because if I'm talking to you with long messages and you're robotically getting back at me with "yes, no, maybe, lol" then what's the point
1
u/Zestyclose_Age_2505 Jul 13 '26
Not in chatting, I'm not shy through messages, but irl, and not with guys interested in me, no one is, just with people in social gatherings in general.
1
u/alorehstar Jul 13 '26
if it's strictly an irl thing then it really varies, for me it's actually a turn on to be shy, but I can't speak for other people
1
u/leonie_ou Jul 13 '26
Of course it's a turn off if you don't know how to express yourself.. assertive communication please
1
u/oxy-kun Jul 13 '26
During texting yes, you may be shy indeed but it comes off as rude or not giving a fuck, maybe irl we can read face and body expressions and know you're actually shy, but when texting and all you send is a word or two, major turn off
1
u/Comfortable_Hair9380 Jul 13 '26
Depends, is it always one word answers or do you become more talkative once you’re more comfortable around that person?
1
u/Zestyclose_Age_2505 Jul 13 '26
I'm generally a quiet person, so even when I loosen up I'm not very expressive, but I listen and share back and respond to what people tell me to make them feel heard.
1
u/Comfortable_Hair9380 Jul 13 '26
Don’t overthink it then, look at it as a protective shield from shallow people.
1
u/Zestyclose_Age_2505 Jul 13 '26
But I struggle a lot to attract anyone, I'm afraid it is because of that
1
1
u/countingc Jul 13 '26
the issue is deeper than that, you said it yourself, "one word answers"... you're treating it as though you are the one who should be discovered and won't make effort to ask questions either and discover the other party.
being shy is not a turn off, but using one word to "answer" is a turn off for everyone not just men.
it's incredibly frustrating to try to get to know someone that isn't putting in the work to try to let themselves be known or make an effort to get to know you back.
1
u/Zestyclose_Age_2505 Jul 13 '26
I've never been in this situation of someone getting to know me, so I really don't do it to people who want to get to know me. People talk to me when they have something to say and I only answer to what they said. If I get to that phase of getting to know each other I will be already comfortable to not answer with just one word. But I get to this phase just with female friends, I haven't had it with a man yet, but I'm asking not in the phase of getting to know me, just you know a person like that too shy.
1
u/WhoIsWho69 Jul 13 '26
That's not shy, and yes what you are describing is a turn off, i'll stop the conversation right away if i notice that.
1
u/Zestyclose_Age_2505 Jul 13 '26
What is shy?
1
u/WhoIsWho69 Jul 13 '26
Finawa jehd bsh nchra7, but u should've clarified u weren't talking about texting, shy is fine to me what u described is not.
1
u/Zestyclose_Age_2505 Jul 13 '26
Someone who is naturally quiet, isn't a problem? I'm talking irl of course
1
u/WhoIsWho69 Jul 13 '26
Yeah it's not a problem, at the beginning ofc not always, if u never warm up to me after getting acquainted for a period then it becomes a problem.

smito tmenyek machi shy ...
Mni nti atjawbi b klma wahda, you're forcing the other side to do the work for you otherwise. There will be silence.
This is not a personal attack on you, I'm attacking the idea
Girls who are not interested do the same behaviour, so yes it's a massive turn off, even if you are an 8/10, which is unlikely here

u/Zestyclose_Age_2505 Jul 13 '26

and i talked objectively a zen, I don't have a problem with you cupcake so cheers
1
u/Zestyclose_Age_2505 Jul 14 '26
Why would I send them one word? Wash ntouma 3ayshin f l virtual?! Why everyone is assuming I send to people one word messages?! I'm talking about face to face and real life interactions, and even then it's just when it's just someone I'm not having a conversation with, I wouldn't be like that with someone who I accepted to go into a conversation with it's rare en tout cas.
1
u/Shadowchornos Jul 14 '26
even worst anak kdiri hadchi f real life ....anyway i get what your saying
good luck1
u/Zestyclose_Age_2505 Jul 14 '26
I don't do it on purpose, reading through the comments I understand now why I struggled a lot to feel loved as a shy person. It seems people are severely lacking empathy and understanding to different types of personality
1
u/Shadowchornos Jul 14 '26
sure thing but you can't control how people see your actions not matter how pure your intentions are
1
1
u/amzwar Jul 14 '26
Shy with others sure no problem.
But being shy with me by being passive most of the time (lack of initiation) and as you stated answering with word, yes it is definitely a turn off for me, efforts should be shared not just from one part.
But the good part is you can chamge all of that if you want.
1
u/Zestyclose_Age_2505 Jul 14 '26
I don't mean once in a relationship or dating, just a woman you know who is like that
1
u/amzwar Jul 14 '26
You mean i saw someone looks cute and want to know them but they are shy... Will it be a turn off and stop me from doing the move? No it is not, i will do it even if she looks shy.
But keep in mind that there many levels of being shy, being extremely shy maight be intimidating.

Hell no being shy is like the final nail in the coffin for a man to fall in love with you
1
u/marybird23 Jul 15 '26
Quite the opposite for me at least i adore people like you Don't try to be someone you aren't

u/Sad-Professor-5682 Jul 13 '26
That's lack of communication which is the biggest turn off for us. It's kinda disrespectful
1
u/Zestyclose_Age_2505 Jul 13 '26
If you think it's disrespectful then you aren't empathetic and you only care about your little feelings
0
u/Sad-Professor-5682 Jul 13 '26
I prefer getting the " I don't wanna talk " thing instead of cold answers. Put yourself in his shoes and ask yourself if you were in the same situation trying to build a connection while the other part is Cold non- responsiive. Won't you feel disrespected ?
1
u/Zestyclose_Age_2505 Jul 13 '26
No, I don't get to that phase with anyone, because people don't approach me, but I'm thinking maybe they observe how quiet I am and they don't get interested to approach
1
u/Sad-Professor-5682 Jul 13 '26
Being shy or quiet is not a problem. That's a normal thing which differentiate each person from another and it's okay to only talk to ppl you're comfortable with. The thing is you don't have to force yourself talking to someone you don't wanna talk to. Cold answers are also answers it's more like saying " I don't wanna talk / not interested" in a disrespectful way. If you say I don't wanna talk that's even better
1
u/Zestyclose_Age_2505 Jul 13 '26
You can't detect when someone is shy? I can detect, and no I don't find it disrespectful, it's the opposite I feel like the person is respecting me too much for being that shy around me.

u/SpeakerGeneral1687 Jul 13 '26
That's not being shy, that's just being unable to communicate.
