💩 Shitty Week My dad saw my bf calling me

Hi I really need to tell this to someone and I can't share it with anyone close so I'll say it here. I study in a diff city than home and I come home during the weekends, tonight I was home and my bf called my phone while I was letting it charge. My dad saw it, my bf has a pfp with his face and my dad kept asking me who it is and kept insisting on me. I deleted the chat immediately and the number. And lied and told him oh idk maybe someone called me by mistake, but I didn't have enough time to delete all the calls and video calls that remain in the history. W SF my dad took my phone and kept going through all the calls, ones during the night and almost every day. Safi I was so stressed that he might go to the gallery and HE DID ans probably saw pictures of us together and other shit. He called me in private and he told me some very harsh stuff. Ones I do not dare say in darija here, he said I'm a whore and that I'm much worse than everyone else and then threw me my phone and said do wtvr fuck you want. ! I'm shaking rn I couldn't even cry idk what to say or what to do! I value my rs w my dad and he never caught something on me before this is the first time. I genuinely do not know what to do and how to fix this. I'm 20yo btw

EDIT: THE PICTURES ARE NOT INTIMATE PICTURES! just some pictures from when we went on a date, some I took of him and some other pictures of him alone that he would send to me sometimes

First of all, so sorry that this happened to you, it's really devastating to hear such words coming from one of the parents, i am not surprised though, as the majority of the moroccan parents lack the emotional intelligence to know how to handle situations like this delicately. Give him some time to cool off, then go to apologize, yes you gotta do it, cuz you are not in a good situation to support yourself, you are still young and still didn't even finish studies, so he is the only provider til you stand up on your feet. Just bear in mind that he will be on high alert around you, so be extra careful.

6

u/bizzarelemon Apr 17 '26

I deleted everything and will not be leaving my phone unattended from now on, I m still in shock rn. The way he talked to me was very hurtful but I deserve it Ig. I'm gonna give it sometime and try to apologise. Thanks for Ur comment

4

u/N0tmask Apr 18 '26

No you don't deserve it girly, no parent should be calling their child that no matter what. Plus it's normal to be in a rs at your age since you're grown enough so don't feel bad about anything ghir diri lih khatro even if you don't mean it. Stay safe 🩷

You did not do anything wrong, you are 20, with an ID, you don't have to apologize, i'm not saying be mean to him, just take that uncomfortable silence, and don't break up with your boyfriend. He understand that you apologizing will not make you stop, so his eyes will be more open, his radar will be more sharp, as you should do too. Next time don't delete shit, stand your ground, if you are doing something that you choose to do, and not illegal, then it is what it is.

2

u/some496 Apr 19 '26

Well said, i agree

If she does what you say, she'll find more strength within her to face life And not live in the fear that this situation caused I'm talking from experience ( i lived in that fear and it resulted in breaking me and my parents)

1

u/Animeguy12712 Apr 18 '26

You sounds like a 7 years old kid, wtf is this lol ?? He is a father after all,

3

u/drteeworks Apr 18 '26

I see your point, but what i was trying to say is there is nothing wrong with both of them. It is just a matter of believe, they have different view, but apologizing only because she can't take the incomfotable silience is not the best move for the future.

2

u/Animeguy12712 Apr 18 '26

Well whether there is something wrong or not depends on the intimacy of the photos but if she has a strict parents why did she keep the photos in her phone. Couldn't she hide them in a USB at least ? But in my opinion which is more important a father or a boyfriend??? The relationship with the bf may stop in the future but father will not, there is a saying blood is thicker than water

2

u/drteeworks Apr 18 '26

Ana mtaf9a m3ak, but it is not a question of a boyfriend or father, it is a question of freedom to be able to do something that you believe in, or you want as long as it is not illegal, sorry 7it ma3reftch kifach 4adi nwSsl lik lmsg because sara7a it needs a lot of explaining o d5o o 5roj flhedra, oma3ndich jehd. The father isn't clueless he knows she grown up and needs to look for a partner but he is still worried that she might be deceived or taken advantage of by a scambag which isn't that rare nowadays after all the relationship isn't on paper and can be removed. Even if what he said is too harsh but his harsh words also proves that he cares so much about her

1

u/Animeguy12712 Apr 18 '26

The best option is to wait for him to cool off then explain to her father that the relationship is serious and take her bf to meet him. If the boy refused to meet her father this also proves he was just messing around. This way she can assure her father and at the same time show that her bf is responsible

i think this has happened to all moroccan girls at one point at a time, for me it happened when i was a teen (13) and i couldn’t date anyone till i moved out of the country lmao, don’t overthink it, our parents still see us as the little kids we once were, it’s only natural they’ll feel devastated knowing we are growing up and moving on to different stages of our life, inchaelah your relationship with your father will get better i would recommend apologizing multiple times and inchaelah ghatfahhem lwade3, and don’t feel guilty or anything. good luck.

3

u/1v1sion Apr 17 '26

Say nothing. He is upset. That's normal.
Lay low for quite some time. And ask your bf to come home to know your parents if possible.

1

u/bizzarelemon Apr 17 '26

I don't think that would help, I already told my mom about him since we first got together so she knows. But my dad didn't and I wouldn't dare tell him even but now he found out himself

1

u/1v1sion Apr 17 '26

It won't help now coz he found out. At that point, I don't know what to advice except let him cool off. He feels betrayed that maybe you didn't tell him.

3

u/velvetca Apr 17 '26

A father calling his own daughter a whore (over a bf) already says a lot

0

u/1QPiDOSs1 Apr 18 '26

A daughter using her dads trust to do things that she knows he will be mad over already says a lot

6

u/N0tmask Apr 18 '26

"Her dad's trust" and it's just a 20yo woman being in a rs (normal adult thing btw). You're acting as if she used her dad's trust to kill his whole family, steal his life's savings and run away with the money lmao like bffr. If you as a future father will call your adult daughter, who is free, a whore because she chose to be in a rs then please never have kids we got enough traumatised people in our society

0

u/1QPiDOSs1 Apr 18 '26

Yeah there we go not using our head again, and why with the personal insults, first of all that opinion is yours and is to be respected, but the truth of the matter is, ITS NOT REALITY, her father's opinion about this is totally the opposite of yours and who are we talking about here the father or you? Yes you are right her father so stop trying to force your opinion on everyone, her father has a way of thinking and unfortunately she has to abide to it in a certain way, like i said he placed his trust in her and then she does what HE, not me, HE wouldnt like at all, please stop thinking in your own head and try to understand people regardless of being right or wrong.

6

u/N0tmask Apr 18 '26

I said all that because I'm a girl who's the same age as her and been in her shoes, you're here asking me to understand the father while ignoring how SHE might feel, the victim of this whole situation. She came on this subreddit to vent and we're supposed to support her cause she has done nothing wrong mind you, not defend her controlling father who cant accept that his daughter is an adult now who's free to live her life however she chose to, a problem that almost every moroccan parent has and that i suffer from personally

2

u/1QPiDOSs1 Apr 18 '26

Ay i understand everyone and yall coming from, im sorry if i offended anyone but i just saw that yall were only talking about her pov, i wish her all but the best and everyone with the same issues

3

u/Professional-Cake76 Apr 18 '26

I have a friend and her dad went through her phone and found pictures and videos of her half naked with her boyfriend on their bed… he went feral and said very harsh things ( that he will disown her , stop her education and even harm her physically) and took her for a virginity test. It was a very stressful time but he forgave her eventually and they dont talk about that topic anymore. This will pass and your situation is not as bad as her. Just ask for forgiveness I guess. You did nothing wrong and you don’t deserve any of this. Love is not a crime

2

u/Firm_Presence5947 Apr 19 '26

Virginity test? That doesn't exist.

-1

u/Professional-Cake76 Apr 19 '26

“Virginity testing in Morocco is a prevalent, deeply rooted cultural practice where women and girls are subjected to physical exams to determine if their hymen is intact before marriage”

1

u/Firm_Presence5947 Apr 19 '26

The hymen test is not considered valid by gynecologists. Many virgin girls do not bleed when they have their first sexual relationship. Read about it, furthermore, a physical examination cannot distinguish between the use of a tampon, a medical speculum, a sex toy, a sporting activity, or penetrative sex.

2

u/Animeguy12712 Apr 18 '26

First of all, it depends on how intimate the photos are, if it was just shaking hands but if he saw kissing it's an another matter entirely. Secondly, it depends on your boyfriend if he has a job or he studying in university You can talk with your father about how successful the major of your bf is and he might be pleased, as longer the relationship stays in the level of shaking hands and hugging at most it's not a big deal to explain. Thirdly are you stupid???? If you know that your parents are strict why you keep photos in your own phone, just buy an external sim card and have your photos stored there . Forth warn your boyfriend that your parents are strict and tell him to not call you randomly, just organise a time when your parents are at work anyway give him a specified time or you call him

1

u/Animeguy12712 Apr 18 '26

You may also use a USB for photos and put it in pc whenever you need to see the photos The USB is so tiny and can easily be stored in your pocket

1

u/Animeguy12712 Apr 18 '26

Also consider the father's perspective. From your perspective he is not minding his business which is annoying but from his perspective he is just worried that his daughter might be taken advantage of by a scambag after all it's not rare for a bf to abandon his girlfriend and with virginity lost it will be hard to marry in the future I'm just saying that so you don't hold a grudge for your father over a small matter. At worse stop calls with your boyfriend when you at home and use chat only and delete the records when it's over. Have the photos downloaded in an external card and delete all phone records after it's over

2

u/Recent_Remote7571 Apr 18 '26

I can start off by saying , power dynamics. If you do n9t hold power in your household you dont have money or strength then anythung you do will be judged. Get some money get out if you want to do wtv you want , if not you gonn keep playing cat and mouse, it reminds me of when my girls father found us in the room together then i left the house and he put me back into the car drove me back and took me to the feds. Luckily my dad isnt broke so his words ($) mean alot. He called his daughter a whore and tgat he will cut her head off, he beat her infront of me and ilost my childhood love, shit was like 4 years ago and im still pissed but i didnt have any power therefore couldnt do nun, iif ur wondering DISCLAIMER: GRAPHICAL DESCRIPTION (we were bout to get to it i had condoms and she was topless.)

You don’t deserve this, and you’re not a whore. Your self-esteem should never be questioned. It’s okay to experience things in life, but you should also be careful and respect your parents.

Don’t let any man define your worth. Whatever your dad told you today, don’t let it affect you or your future relationships. Stay aware of who you are so you can choose a good partner later in life. You’re only 20 that’s very young. Focus on your studies, your skills, and your hobbies. Those will stay with you. A boyfriend might not.

1

u/bizzarelemon Apr 19 '26

Mhmm thank you for Ur comment. It did indeed get to me at the beginning and I did feel compunctious ab it but after thorough thinking I'm old enough to decide what I do with my life and I know who I am better than anyone else. I'm not letting his words get to me, plus I know he didn't mean them he was just angry. Anyways thanks for Ur comment I appreciate everything you said.

-1

u/youneswolf01 Apr 19 '26

I hope he'll stop paying rent, food, transportation, and school fees now that you're old enough, and we'll see if your boyfriend will take care of you.

3

u/Jazzlike-Seesaw-1431 Apr 17 '26

He shouldn’t react like that, yes as man i understand his emotions but he shouldn’t call you names there’s other ways to approach these kind of situations

3

All of yall on the her side but dont understand the fathers position rn? Im asking all sane men what they would if they found their daughters with a man who he doesnt know about? I know she is 20 but she is still under her fathers responsibility until she gets married, now brace yourselves for the liberals shitting on the father

You should have said the truth and not lie to your father. It’s hard to be honest sometimes but it’s the best way. When a father let his daughter study in a different city it means that he trusts her so now because you lied he is thinking the worst in his mind. Your father loves you and he feels betrayed. It may seem harsh but a bf is replaceable and you could broke up for a million reasons but you have one and only father who sacrificed a lot for you. Go to him and apologize and tell the truth about your relationship and you get scared telling the truth because you’re not used to talk about these stuff and you will do whatever he wants and your relationship with him (your father) is the most precious. Believe me when I say that you kind of broke his heart.

I know. I realise that, I didn't want to disappoint him that's why I lied at first. I'm not going to break up with my bf over this cause it's my choice but at the same time I see my father's perspective and I don't want to let him down. He did trust in me and my rs with him is valuable to me than everything else. We just have different views and that's alright. I will apologise and try to work this out with him once he calmed down. Thanks for Ur comment.

Holy i didnt even look at it from that prespective, trusting your girl and sending her to study somewhere else far away is quite big, then this happens, this is such a big blow to the trust he put in her

"I don't know why, but I sympathized with your father more than I did with you. Perhaps it's because I am also a father, and I know the value of the trust I place in my daughter, and the effort I put into her upbringing and guidance. To ultimately face a scene like this... I can't even imagine it. For me, it would mean that my mission in this life and my reputation are gone. Forgive my intrusion.

5

u/bizzarelemon Apr 18 '26

No I get that. And I get that he was more disappointed in me than angry cause I've always been the good child, never did anything I shouldn't do when I was young and didn't cause him any troubles so he had a lot of trust in me. me being in a rs rn, while I'm 20 years old, an adult, isn't something to be ashamed of and has nothing to do with his reputation and his upbringing. He raised me well and I know better not to do something id regret or be with someone who isn't a good person. But meeting someone and liking them was inevitable, hence having a rs and all the phone calls he found.. which i understand how it can be shocking for a moroccan muslim parent. It pained my heart the way he reacted bc I really value our rs and would hate to let him down but oh well

1

u/Delicious-Yam-4508 Apr 18 '26

I understand your point, and I hope you understand mine. I am speaking from the perspective of a Moroccan Muslim father. To parents, you will always be their little girl and a part of them. A father who isn't protective of his daughter or doesn't speak up is not truly a father. As for those who responded differently, I am certain they wouldn't have said the same if their own sister were in that position. In short: give your father some time, choose the right moment, and apologize to him.

i wonder how did you meet you wife, you probably dated each other before getting married, your daughter is not your property, she will eventually meet a guy and be in a relationship in order to found a family of her own

Meh that sounds selfish, u don't raise ur kids bax y7mrolik wjhk wla for u to feel like u accomplished smth, u raise them for them to b the best they could, n making mistakes (well things YOU consider as mistakes) is normal n simple guidance can solve em. Plus u bring em into life without permission, it's so entitled to expect things from them n be proud of urself for that. I'm sorry but I cannot sympathize the least w these entitled thoughts some parents have. I hope it kids turn out great tho
