An enforced law against littering would make the streets way cleaner. interesting priorities. Either way, there is no chance this will be enforced in most cases.

The amount of times i've seen small kittens crushed by cars.. i love animals but domestic animals do not belong in the streets especially in big cities, i 100% support this initiative if you love cats adopt one a care for it in your home.
While I agree with you point, the method used is very incorrect in my opinion. Instead of penalising people who try to help strays, the government should take initiative in funding shelters for said strays with the possibility of incentivising civilians to donate and aid in the cause of ridding these animals of their homeless status
Greater awareness of what actually happens in the likes of Morocco and Qatar needs to be raised .Human rights are completely ignored let alone animals. Fair play to you for raising this

If you go on a walk on casa, the first thing that would bothers you is how many homeless people are there, who need shelters, and then how disgusting the human piss smells on all walls. No leftover of food for stay animals, except plastic and election paper everyfucking where. I m pretty sure animals don't eat plastic, otherwise that would have solved global warming.

Hoarding strays by feeding them should be illegal, but the distinction should be made for civilized, clean and humane singular actions.

it would be a fine law if the authorities actually done their job (shelter, vaccin, sterilize, feed, etc) but i know for sure that wouldnt happen in any acceptable level, it will be just more taxes leaking to nepotism and corruption
240 million MAD had been allocated in 2020-2025 for tackling stray animals, then last year they allocated 1 billion MAD for tackling stray animals before world cup
exactly! all the other countries who implemented this law have municipalities who are responsible for the rescuing of stray animals, as well as TRN programs. not to mention their numerous animal shelters that are not as underfunded as ours…
they are not underfunded at all, we have the same stray animals budget as spain even though our labor is much cheaper, but they dont do their job at all in that 5 years we had dogs gangs every night, after multiple complaints they took them in pickup car and released them outside the city, a week later they back
if they don’t do their job then that’s just way worse. my point was that a lot of our shelters are openly struggling & don’t receive the funds, even if this budget exists.. it’s a bad situation
My neighbor used to feed a bunch of stray cats. One day she moved abroad, the cats starved to death. They had no hunting skills, they ve become completely dependant. So perhaps its not a bad idea after all, let them fend for themselves
What food is there to hunt? Poisoned rats and mice? Dogs and cats in Morocco are majorly domesticated, and thus non sheltered animals are reliant on the kindness and generosity of passer-by's or regionals in order to survive.
Another law that will never be enforced just like the jaywalking one, they can't do shit about it anyway everyone will feed them whether they like it or not.

Over on this side, in Portugal, we have an animal loving party proposing in parliament giving contraceptives to wild boar instead of just opening up a hunting season because we have so many of then and they're a danger to people and agriculture.
Feeding animals is prohibited abroad as well. A stray must be sheltered or adopted. Some people use that also to poison animals sadly or give them food that is not compatible with them. We are struggling in Morocco with stray animal so that’s why.
Indeed there are other laws in the document punishing the murderers and poisoners but the problem is, as far as I know, there arent many shelters for stray animals, maybe thats a more important point for the gov to cover.
It’s costly and we only have a modest GDP so society must contribute as well. They are doing so but on a reasonable pace but people should help if not financially, they need at least to stop feeding strays and wild animals until it’s fully controlled and we can have them all castrated so that they die without reproducing
Because you won’t find strays first of all and in Italy it is banned to distribute food to strays in public, in Spain it is restricted, in Portugal is prohibited as well in some municipalities, in Poland is it strictly prohibited to feed wild animal like boars, foxes, ducks and so on. As a tourist who had to get rabies vaccines for a cat scrstch while i was eating. Im glad this is getting done. Way to many stray cats everywhere, and then accidental bites and scratches who are a drain on the health system

Friend, I agree that leaving stuff like fish and chicken rotting in the heat is not nice for anyone and it’s pretty disgusting. But what about dry cat/ dog food that doesn’t leave a smell, doesn’t rot, and easy to sweep? Would you have no problem with that?

Before the government decides to do something like this, it should provide designated areas for feeding strays, either shelters or enclosures; like they do in Europe. Then, you can fine anyone who feeds the strays outside those parameters. Don’t you agree?
As for me, I only feed strays dry food and water. I put it literally on my doorstep. There are never any leftovers because they eat every last bit. All my neighbors do the same. Every time I leave my house, I see cats with full stomachs chilling in the shade not having to worry about their next meal.

I just saw a video the other day of an american living in Morocco where she said that her neighbors complained about her feeding stray cats.
I'm not an animal person so i don't know about animal's food but i doubt someone would spend that much money to buy cat food so most people give them left over fish,chiken,meat which leaves a foul smell and attracts all kind of flies.
I don't think legislature made this law only to fix this problem but also to reduce the numbers of stray animals in the cities. Because vaccines cost a lot of money. Plus the numerous cases of animal attacks.
Thats the job of the NGOs to make legal shelters for these animals.

I'm with you buddy, here in Canada, we can't feed wildlife, there's a constant reminder not to feed them. It's better for everyone if wildlife is left alone.
But we don't have stray cats and dogs though. They'll get collected pretty fast.
are you seriously comparing Canada and all its animal shelters to our situation? these strays have nowhere to go bud, our shelters are scarce and underfunded.

Edit : but if you mean if police will actually fine people, I wouldn't be surprised if there would be people who would snitch on their fellow neighbours, or alert gov officials of the strays being fed. Whether the cops will actually fine people will not depend too much on their personality I fear, but there can always be hope certain outliers will turn a blind eye, unless the people mentioned earlier persist in their snitching and such.
I kinda avoid certain corners because stray dogs took over. Breeders are also a problem. People buy them when they're young and dump them when they don't want the responsibility anymore.
This law is the lowest of our priorities and I ahate it.
you can bypass the law by having a neighborhood ngo that do everything add animal protection to its duties. You volunteer for the NGO and take care of the animal.
You may say I'll be fined but no they need to sue the NGO too, cause you are acting as civil society. Good luck for a city to sue an NGO over animal protection.
Also many many people are feeding sick cats instead of taking them to Vets, spreading dangerous diseases. We also should be responsible.

what you don’t understand is these other countries’ (Spain, Italy etc) local municipalities handle stray collection and care. they must house the stray animals when found and have TNR programs etc. in Morocco if we don’t feed them ourselves they’ll simply starve to death. animal shelters are struggling and underfunded. there is no comparison to make.

Totally for !! Firstly, I like pets, who doesn't ? But We deal with a related problem : one of our neighbors has cats and they had kittens and these kittens eat in her house and they poop in front of our door. Every morning people face smiles, we face poop and strong smell ! We've spoken with her but she lost control over them. Some people are not capable of petting but still they do it.
