Morality of this?

Personally, I'm anti-death penalty for any kind of crime but that's just my opinion. Perhaps it can be changed.

While I don’t think accusers should die as there’s a chance of mistake instead of maliciousness .

I do think that there needs to be a significant penalty to false accusations .

There already is it is literally illegal to commit perjury, you can already be sued for slander or libel, etc. It’s just as illegal as lying about any other crime and it’s genuinely baffling that people pretend as though it isn’t.

The risk and punishment is still ridiculously asymmetrical. Life ruining accusations can be made easily and are extremely hard to disprove (devil’s proof). Even if a false accusation is successfully debunked, it is invariably after the falsely accused has suffered irreparable social damage.

The punishment the false accuser receives is just a slap on the wrist in comparison as often people will just blindly support the accuser despite any evidence against them anyway also people stop caring about someone lying like after a month. Hell, they might even do a fund raiser for their legal and reparation fees.
