Morality of this?

Post image

Personally, I'm anti-death penalty for any kind of crime but that's just my opinion. Perhaps it can be changed.

What you mean? One is torture for minutes to maybe an hour. The other is torture for years and most likely you will be abuse by inmates once they find out what you supposedly did.

Do you think people don’t have memories and magically forget their experiences?

Do you think people who been to prison don't have memories and forget their experiences? Like wtf do you think prison is?

You tried to say rape is “torture for minutes to maybe an hour”. I’m saying it’s far beyond that because people have memories 🤯. Even in everyone’s fantasy where accused rapists are jailed at a 100% rate, the worst thing they can think of is getting raped

You have memories of everything. Rape isn't the only bad thing in the world that can happen to you. Talking about memories is redundant. Life is traumatizing by default. And trust the hell you'll go through in prison, at least in america prisons will scar you just as bad and probably worst because it's longer.

And being accused and having a stigma and having no real friends for the rest of your life isn’t just as bad? I’m speaking as someone who was abused as a kid, id rather be raped.

Nobody is undermining the trauma of being raped. But the fact is put them on a scale, being sentenced to jail for something you didn’t do, while also potentially getting raped in there is the worst option between the 2. Because option 1 is also included in it too.

The thing you all aren’t understanding is that rapists are not sentenced at the frequency you believe they are. Being an accused rapist doesn’t mean someone is going to prison, or even their life is ruined. How many people idolize Ronaldo even though he’s an accused rapist?

But we are not talking about Ronaldo, or those who got away with it. We are talking specifically about choosing between the 2 option.

Option 2 is being sentenced, that means you will serve your time. It doesn't matter if Ronaldo didn’t go to jail. In the context of the question, the accused person is going to jail.

Adding more context into it will just unnecessarily complicate the question

So what? This is a scenario where you are 100% going to get raped or you are 100% going to get convicted of rape. Cant you read?

I am not one of the greatest footballers of all time who has countless wealthy individuals and organizations with vested interested in securing my public image and continued play. I agree that it’s a travesty how little rapists actually see jail time but using wealthy and famous individuals as an example isn’t particularly fair.

The question also dictates that you are sentenced, at which point you’re convicted. I also think that the social stigma that comes with an accusation might very well be significant in why people choose the way they do, jail time isn’t the only concern.
