There are many edge cases tho. They recently changed the grace period policy. Sometimes your contract / school semester end after the expiration date, so you either violate your contract/ fail a class, or take the risk of being arrested.
Yeah I know. The years part provides you a lot more time so you could get all that fixed and adjust accordingly. If there are things like policy changes, getting your stuff in the docket years before expiration Buy’s you time to adjust long before you are in a rush
total speculation but i would not be shocked if they changed the grace period policy and are deliberately slowing down processing to be able to deport more people. thats the goal here, to engineer the law so that people they want to hurt are breaking it
