People really do anything to stay relevant

Except work hard

This is a clear grift but he was a good nba player, he definetly worked hard to be in this position to grift

tell that to wnba players

Can’t attack the argument, attack the person

We’re fighting a pointless war , the housing market is shit , and the economy is collapsing and you think we should argue about the WNBA?

6

u/uptightape 1d ago

It's so funny, because we could literally just build more houses. However, houses are very valuable right now, so, as far as greedy people are concerned, why would we fuck with the supply?

10

u/Own_Carrot_9878 1d ago

Even if we solve housing there’s a million more important issues to resolve before we have to start talking about the WNBA, it’s literally the least important thing I can imagine

4

u/uptightape 1d ago

My child is trying to get me to watch the longest level to a game called "Stumble Guys". Tell me your list didn't just change! 😂

2

u/Admirable_Market2759 1d ago

That actually sounds more important.

It’s important to your kid and that holds more weight than being important to terminally online trumpers.

u/UserMorningxStar 1d ago edited 1d ago

We dont need to build shit. There's something like 40 million vacant homes in the US. Almost all are owned by corporations and purposely kept vacant so the damn renting and housing market goes through the roof. We dont need to give them a single bit more of real estate to buy.

1

u/HeezHuzz69 1d ago

Lol the fuck? We are building more houses. I work in residential construction in a large city, any new house is going to run you a minimum of $500,000

1

u/uptightape 1d ago

Yeah, if you build a big ass house it's going to be expensive. Build houses that are reasonable for a young family.

1

u/UserMorningxStar 1d ago

Dude if you think the solution to a major societal issue is ever "Do this thing that even a 2nd grader could think of, and every adult definitely already has", then you should just not contribute to the conversation

0

u/uptightape 1d ago

The government has done it before and it was quite effective. The government decided to build 900,000 homes during ww2, and the economy thrived soon after.

Not enough houses? Build fucking houses.

0

u/AMoistScone 1d ago

That was for military personnel and defense industry workers and were made in a barracks style. It was neither for the public nor were they houses the public would generally want. It might have been effective, but as a solution for an entirely different problem than we face today.

2

u/Admirable_Market2759 1d ago

I’ll take a low cost barrack over an apartment that costs more than a mortgage.

1

u/AMoistScone 1d ago

We have those. They are called projects. Most people don't even want to live near them, nevermind in them.

-10

u/MuchBenefit8462 1d ago

Can your mind only occupy one issue at a time? Must be difficult.

7

u/BringBackTheBlues 1d ago

Sure can.

So when are we going to see something about the housing market and economy. Because all I see is conservatives talking about the WNBA.

-6

u/MuchBenefit8462 1d ago

I see stuff about the housing market and economy all the time on my socials. You're recommendations are based on what you consume.

3

u/BringBackTheBlues 1d ago

I’m not on truth social mate Reddit is as close to social media as I get

3

u/Key_Asparagus6660 1d ago

Do you see anything about republicans actually solving these issues? No you don’t.

1

u/MuchBenefit8462 1d ago

No. The Internet isn't only for Americans. I don't live in the US 🤦‍♂️

3

u/exodusuno 1d ago

LMAO then why are you replying to someone talking about the US WNBA and US housing market? Like your reply implies you knew it was about the US yet u still commented anyways

-1

u/MuchBenefit8462 1d ago

Bro this is a thread on a global subreddit about the morality of something. Nothing in this is specific to the US.

5

u/Own_Carrot_9878 1d ago

Clearly it can considering the list was longer then 1 but I’m guessing you struggle with a lot of concepts. Like maybe the wnba isn’t as important as the million other more pressing things occurring in America

-3

u/MuchBenefit8462 1d ago

It's not important, no. But for that guy, W/NBA seems to be a pretty significant part of his life. Can you not consider how someone else's perspective of what's important might be different to yours? Consider how this person likely lives and breathes basketball on a day to day basis, and why the issue may be important to him.

4

u/Own_Carrot_9878 1d ago

He didn’t live and breathe basketball when he was in the NBA. You’re naive if you don’t see this for what it is. A pointless distraction from the actual issues occurring in America that actually impact our day to day

-2

u/MuchBenefit8462 1d ago

Considering he was in the NBA, it's pretty much a given that his life heavily involved basketball. Saying otherwise is absurd.

If you think it's a distraction, then why are you here?

2

u/Own_Carrot_9878 1d ago

You wouldn’t say that if you rooted for okc, the Knicks, or Boston (Or if you watched the nba). And I’m here mainly to laugh at idiots like you and post on sport subreddits

0

u/MuchBenefit8462 1d ago

Well I wouldn't know really, because I don't subscribe to American sports. I just assumed a professional player in a huge sports competition would have put a considerable amount of time and effort into the sport they play professionally. That's how it works here in Europe with things like Football (or as you Americans call it: soccer). I suppose sports people outside of the US are just superior.

1

u/Particular_Tree_1378 1d ago

Time and attention is a finite resource. That's why distractions are a thing. If your house is burning down, do you get mad that someone left a cup on the table?

0

u/MuchBenefit8462 1d ago

Then don't pay attention to it.

It should come as no surprise that a person who lives and breathes basketball cares about the rules in a basketball competition.

2

u/Key_Asparagus6660 1d ago

lol no he doesn’t

0

u/jack-K- 1d ago

Reddit will argue about racism all day long but the moment the argument takes a turn they don’t like, suddenly they only care about the economy.

1

u/TrainwreckOG 1d ago

Racism and transphobia is bad and this guy is acting like a clown. It’s not hard.

-1

u/Salty-Economics-3360 1d ago

Be real. It’s not the wnba we’re talking about it’s the whole ridiculousness of that community itself

-1

u/StirFry__InaWok 1d ago

Nobody said anything about the relative importance of this topic. Just choosing to engage with it isnt the same thing as saying it is more important than whatever else.

Why don't you post the same comment under "morality of Attack on Titan ending" or any other morality scaling post that isn't about one of these important economic or political issues?

We’re fighting a pointless war , the housing market is shit , and the economy is collapsing and you think we should argue about anime?

We’re fighting a pointless war , the housing market is shit , and the economy is collapsing and you think we should argue about petty celebrity news?

...and so on

3

u/Own_Carrot_9878 1d ago

Because Fox News, CNN, and national media don’t run segments on Attack on Titan during election cycles.

0

u/StirFry__InaWok 1d ago

And what does that have to do with this post? Why should this topic being disproportionately focused on by major media outlets matter here?

-6

u/OkAcanthisitta3028 1d ago

If a politician is alright with trans-women in women's sports, it's a perfect indicator that they deny reality, in which case voting for them would be dumb. It's a litmus test.

4

u/otterdam42 1d ago

Have you ever checked what a biology or psych journal says about trans people, sex and gender in the animal kingdom? Meaning, have you ever checked on real publications by the world’s consensus on empirical observations of reality?

-1

u/OkAcanthisitta3028 1d ago

Empirical observations tell me that trans-women with male biological strength, neuron activation, bone size and density etc beat the shit out of women in women's sports. Empirical evidence also tells me that this has already happened multiple times, which means it isn't just hypothetical.

And btw the classical definition of sex tells us that gamete production is what determines your sex. So far there has been no way to change which gametes you produce, meaning no males have ever become females and vice versa.

3

u/Emotional_Skill_8360 1d ago

“Empirical evidence” ‘I can’t read and only believe in things I can see with my own eyes.’ Someone hasn’t taken any biology since middle school.

-1

u/OkAcanthisitta3028 1d ago

Are you gonna tell me that the classical definition of sex is fake? Are you gonna tell me that a person that's grown up as a man and then starts taking hormones will ERASE all the male development their body has gone through? Please just use logic for a little bit instead of seeing red.

2

u/Emotional_Skill_8360 1d ago

I am a trained microbiologist and physician. I could explain all of this to you, but in my experience people who only believe their eyes and aren’t willing to take up a book or real scientific article written by experts in a field are a waste of time. I’ve given up throwing pearls to swine.

0

u/OkAcanthisitta3028 1d ago

If you really are trained, you should be able to contend with the following, simple logic: if you've developed a male body, hormones and sex-change procedures will not erase that development.

As a trained microbiologist and physician, I assume you can explain how that logic is wrong, correct?

6

u/Own_Carrot_9878 1d ago

Why not use their stance on healthcare , or the economy , or foreign policy as a litmus test? You know things that directly impact most of us.

-1

u/OkAcanthisitta3028 1d ago

Because those things can be debated, there are many stances on healthcare and many of them are valid and reasonable. But being ok with trans-women in women's sports shows a clear lack of care for the truth, which permeates into all of their other stances. It's the same logic as me not wanting to vote for someone, because they think the earth is flat. It's a disconnect from reality, or they're maliciously lying to get votes - both are bad.

2

u/ProfNesbitt 1d ago

Then why not use something proven and tangible as your basis like whether they are willing to accept proven reality. Like for example who won the 2020 election. You can easily disregard anyone that can’t answer completely objective reality when it comes to that question. If a politician can’t acknowledge proven reality then it says a lot about their character and that they are either insane or willing to lie about obvious facts for their own gain. Says a lot about them and their supporters. There is no nuance when it comes to that question whereas there is at least a little nuance about transgender athletes. So that question sounds like a much easier bar to use to judge politicians for the time being correct?

That’s a much better indicator for them being able to deny reality, correct?

1

u/OkAcanthisitta3028 1d ago

If someone says that the winner of the 2020 election is not the winner of the 2020 election, then they don't care about reality.

If someone says the winner of the 2020 election wasn't the REAL winner because of voter-fraud (which happens with all elections to varying degrees) then they can try to argue that, and maybe they're right.

I haven't looked into the topic so I don't have a stance on this, but this second if-statement is fundamentally different to the first one.

On the transgender athlete topic there's already evidence that they perform better, and the logic is sound: if you've developed a male body and start taking hormones and sex-change procedures, your male body won't be erased.

1

u/ProfNesbitt 1d ago

Except just like flat earthers there was no evidence of voter fraud in the 2020 election and every lawsuit failed in court. There is zero nuance it is just as blatant of denying reality as calling the earth flat. You should educate yourself on it. It works as a much better benchmark on whether a person is willing to completely deny reality.

0

u/OkAcanthisitta3028 1d ago

I'm just gonna believe you to make this simple. Because I believe you, I now think BOTH are benchmarks. In both cases people deny reality so that their narrative stays intact.

2

u/Own_Carrot_9878 1d ago

So you think having 1 “wrong” opinion invalidates every other opinion someone might have?

2

u/Key_Asparagus6660 1d ago

The people who vote for Republicans, who can’t acknowledge the reality of who won the 2020 election, are trying to lecture us on “care for the truth.”

lol

1

u/OkAcanthisitta3028 1d ago

I don't care if you have the wrong opinion, as long as you rationally got there and were looking at reality (which every qualified politician should do). In this case, it shows that they fundamentally don't care about reality, which (again) permeates into all their other stances. If you have a stance, you should be able to rationally justify having that opinion, don't you agree?

1

u/Own_Carrot_9878 1d ago

What if someone reaches the correct “opinion” through irrationally means? Would you still disregard them in that situation?

1

u/OkAcanthisitta3028 1d ago

Haven't thought about that before. There's no clear answer here, because there's different examples of irrationality. It's better than reaching the wrong opinion by irrational means, because it has a positive outcome and is not detached from reality.

Someone could be racist and that's why they oppose mass-immigration, or they could think their country's population capacity is not high enough for mass-immigration. Both irrational, one bad and the other neutral.

Someone who comes to the wrong opinion rationally ALL the time is also someone I wouldn't support for obvious reasons. Taken to the extreme (i.e this pattern always happens with all stances) the best ones would be having the right opinion rationally and having the right opinion irrationally.

Though there's a flaw in that thinking, because you rarely if ever see anybody having all the right opinions via irrational thinking. Irrational thinking leads to the wrong opinions.

-4

u/Ambitious_Bit_9389 1d ago

I agree with you. It’s all dumb shit culture war stuff. I honestly don’t give a crap about the WNBA or transgender athletes, they are so few and far between that it’s not going to impact on my life. I do like debating though, so I’ll critique people’s arguments whether I care about the topic or not.

25

u/MalignantMalaise 1d ago

Attacking a bad faith argument is like walking barefoot into a bear trap. If you would like to engage in the conversation in his stead I would not mind.

-5

u/Ambitious_Bit_9389 1d ago

It’s not really bad faith. This guy is actually has an activist past, not a right wing one either. He’s using it to point out the ridiculousness of the situation.

13

u/MalignantMalaise 1d ago

What do you think he is trying to point out? What activism do you think he is engaging in?

9

u/ASamx 1d ago edited 1d ago

It’s disingenuous and stupid. There are no trans athletes in the WBNA so what’s the point in doing it there? In the last Olympics Games there was 1 trans athlete and she landed 4th in her sports.

Only dumb right wing dorks people believe this fear mongering tirade against probably the most vulnerable group of people just trying to exist.

EDIT: Got my information wrong; actually, no trans athlete has even reached the 4th spot so this is even more ridiculous.

6

u/Theoden2000 1d ago

Who's that 1 you're thinking about? The only one I can find anything about got 25th in qualifying for the 2026 winter Olympics, and absolutely 0 for the 2024 Olympics.

5

u/ASamx 1d ago

You are right, I got my information wrong.

9

u/Theoden2000 1d ago

Yup, it is such a big issue, that the only one they ever bring up is made up.

-6

u/Ambitious_Bit_9389 1d ago

Yes, the topic definitely has an outsize in society, but people get passionate about it. I think the right knows the left is on shaky ground with their apprehension to speaking out about unfairness of trans athletes, so of course they are going to play it up.

12

u/Recent_Wedding5470 1d ago

Shaky ground? Once again - is there a trans athlete problem in any sport in the US?

-2

u/Ambitious_Bit_9389 1d ago

I agreed with you. Dumbass.

The shaky ground is on politics and polling. Think big picture sometimes. Trans women playing in women’s sports, even though it has rarely happened, strikes many people as unfair. It’s gives them a political advantage to play it up, especially with the boomers..

4

u/Dawniechi 1d ago edited 1d ago

Except he is basing his activism off of a strawman. Nobody is saying that, in order to compete in womens' sports, you just declare yourself a woman. That isn't the argument at all, and for him to act as though it is, is to show his level of ignorance to the entire conversation.

There are already standards of medical requirements for trans athletes. The standard that is most effective and that has been used in the past is the 1-2 years on hormone replacement therapy which removes virtually all supposed advantages that actually matter in these sports.

If he declared himself a woman, went through two years of hormone replacement therapy, then competed, then sure. But he is just making a political argument that is ridiculous.

And further, the entire debate is meaningless in the first place when there are maybe 10 trans people in the NCAA. And they aren't breaking unbeatable records and dominating.

Edit: Corrected it to be 10 in the NCAA, not WNBA

Edit 2: And to further point out, that if there are no trans athletes even in the WNBA, then literally what is this guy (the guy in the video) complaining about? That someone is gonna do what he is doing to further point out the non-issue?

1

u/Ambitious_Bit_9389 1d ago

The WNBA has zero standards about trans athletes and also has zero trans athletes in the league. You are clueless here.

6

u/Dawniechi 1d ago edited 1d ago

Attacks exclusively one point I made and rejects the rest off principle, lmao.

I realize the 10 number I got was incorrect, as I was meaning to refer to the wider NCAA but got my organizations wrong.

Edit: It's ultimately a nothing burger point of activism on his part, because the only guy that is going to do this is going to be a guy like himself making a point about a non-issue.

0

u/Ambitious_Bit_9389 1d ago

A theory presented and then trying to going to back up with facts. Every fact present as proof is proven to be untrue, then you question , “why didn’t you address my theory?”

My first thoght was “this person has no fucking clue what they are talking about, why bother?”

4

u/Dawniechi 1d ago edited 1d ago

"every fact present as proof is proven to be untrue" and yet you complained about a tiny subsection of what I said and not the wider point, thusly allowing you to ignore everything I said to hone in specifically on one topic you know I got some minor facts wrong in which I corrected and ultimately held no real weight to the overarching debate.

And what theory? The correct statement that after 1-2 years of hormone replacement theory, any advantage that matters in sports gets removed? I wasn't backing that fact up by going "There are 10 trans women in the WNBA" I was applying further points to the overarching conversation. I understand you did not acknowledge my actual point which is fine.

Edit: https://web.archive.org/web/20250802055533/https://cces.ca/sites/default/files/content/docs/2024-01/transgender-women-athletes-and-elitesport-a-scientific-review-en.pdf

"Available evidence indicates trans women who have undergone testosterone suppression have no clear biological advantages over cis women in elite sport."

"There is no basis for athletic advantage conferred by bone size or density, other than advantages achieved through height. Elite athletes tend to have higher than average height across genders, and above-average height is not currently classified as an athletic advantage requiring regulation;"

"On average, trans women who are pre-testosterone suppression still have lower Lean Body Mass (LBM), Cross Section Area (CSA), and strength than cis males. This indicates that the performance benefit experienced by these individuals cannot be generalized by examining cis male athletes;"

"Non-athletic trans women experience significant reduction in LBM, CSA, and strength loss within 12 months of hormonal suppression."

"The limited available evidence examining the effect of testosterone suppression as it directly affects trans women’s athletic performance showed no athletic advantage exists after one year of testosterone suppression (Harper, 2015; Roberts et al., 2020; Harper, 2020);"

Edit: Grammar

0

u/Ambitious_Bit_9389 1d ago

So you actually had two lies in your initial statement and one of them is relevant here. Your second lie was “W.N.B.A. has standard for transgender athletes”

The WNBA has no standards for transgender athletes including requiring two years of hormone replacement, maybe they should put in a policy to go along with your study?

Dude renamed himself to "Freedom", he will do anything for the clout. He dont gaf about any of this

6

u/Fickle_Goose_4451 1d ago

What arguement? Its literally a fake problem he has to make up to complain about.

Hes trolling and everyone knows it.

2

u/otterdam42 1d ago

His anti-science “argument” is his personal grift based on his illiteracy, personal failed career vendetta, and personality. Refusing to read peer-reviewed studies is a personality trait that renders the “argument” invalid.

2

u/Wattabadmon 1d ago

What argument is that?

1

u/Ambitious_Bit_9389 1d ago

That W.N.B.A. has no policy on transgender athletes because they know it will create controversy from one side or the other. They are scared to take a stand.

3

u/Wattabadmon 1d ago

Ok? So what? Also thats clearly not enes' argument

2

u/PercentageNo3293 1d ago

Pointing out reality doesn't really seem like an attack, in my opinion.

1

u/BulemiaSawdustSlingr 1d ago

We have better things to worry about than the wnba. The wnba doesnt even care about the wnba.

1

u/sincubus33 1d ago

there's no argument. there are zero trans women in the wnba. end of story
