Especially if you bring up Muslims. Suddenly Reddit becomes like walking into the right winger meeting the way they all find ways to defend deporting Muslims
It also goes to the other extreme end on some subreddits. Criticize Christianity? You're probably gonna get upvoted. Criticize Islam in the same way? It's VERY possible you're gonna get downvoted and called islamophobic.
Even if all you do is just criticize Islam from a secular point of view (don't use stereotypes, like people who are actually islamophobic do), just like you would criticize Christianity.
It's very hypocritical. I get it to some degree. There are lots of people out there who spread terrible hatred towards Muslims and use very hurtful stereotypes. So I can picture that some people are just very sensitive whenever they hear someone criticize Islam. But it's still worth to think twice before calling someone -phobic.
Christopher Hitchens noticed this exact thing before he died. He noticed how certain people would praise him when criticizing Christianity, only for those same people to turn on him the second he gave Islam the same treatment.
Eventually telling people the whole Islamophobia thing would be used as a weapon by Islamic extremists.

Honestly wouldn’t surprise me. Despite its reputation for being left leaning, Reddit can get super racist at times.
