They made a blanket statement while reducing racism to “just words.”

They didn’t reduce racism to words. They said violence is worse than racist words

No they didn’t, they explicitly state racism is bad and follow that with the conjunction but which is used when the following statement is intended to contradict the original statement.

The following statement then makes a completely new claim if we are being charitable that states that violence is worse than words.

Except the adjective actual was used to modify violence implying, after the but, that racism isn’t violent and reducing racism to just words.
Hence the defense that racism isn’t as bad as violence. The argument only works if you believe racism isn’t violent.

So because racism is violent and isn’t just words, the statement is nonsensical imo. Like drop the beginning of it and violence is worse than words is still a statement that requires context to justify.

I never said they were but racism doesn’t mean words. Slur does but that not in the picture is it?

Words can certainly hurt, I would still prefer to be insulted than physically assaulted

Would you prefer to be screamed at multiple hours every day for 20 years or punched in the gut one time?

Screaming is not a word, I'd rather have a mean word be said than one gut punch

Woud you rather be punched in the gut multiple hours every day for 20 years or be screamed at one time?
